I'm just now catching up on this thread. Did EA mention anything about the FIFA that will be on the Switch? I've heard conflicting information about whether it'll be a full port or some special watered down version. If they didn't mention it, then I guess we'll have to wait until Nintendo's presentation.

The news coming out is fairly positive. It has all the normal features, even UT, career mode, etc.
It is built on a custom engine, not Frostbite, but people say some of the animations look like Frostbite/FIFA 17 animations.
Eurogamer called it the "best mobile soccer game of all time." Take that for what you will.

Bethesda's conference is what happens when you have an E3 conference but nothing really to show off outside of Evil Within 2 (nobody cares) and Wolfenstein 2 (ok, I care but it's not exactly a huge release).
They didn't even need to have a conference this year
Anthem looks like co-op Mass Effect and the name reminds me of health insurance. I won't say any more than that until I see more of the game though.
Assassin's Creed Origins looks exactly like Unity/Syndicate. I thought they'd migrate to a new engine since the one they were using had real issues running on PS4 and Xbox One. I think the gameplay footage they showed was on the One X, so maybe it's a smooth experience on the updated consoles. I don't know if I like them doubling down on the RPG mechanics. I thought the character progression in Unity and Syndicate was pretty lame.

Does FUT on Switch work exactly the same as it does on the other platforms?
Andrei Lazaresco: Almost the same. There won't be any Champions on Switch.
Why not?
Andrei Lazaresco: For the first year we put in Draft Mode, Squad Building challenges, Seasons, Tournaments, Team of the Week challenges - all of those are there. Remember, this is the first year we introduce Ultimate Team to Switch players. We're taking it gradually. We're going to announce more about Ultimate Team at Gamescom later this year.
Will you be able to buy packs in the same way on Switch?
Andrei Lazaresco: Yeah, in the same way, but through Nintendo, obviously.
So, FIFA coins?
Andrei Lazaresco: Yeah. The core of Ultimate Team, everything you know about Ultimate Team is retained within Switch. Imagine, for example, an airline that provides Wi-fi - you'll be able to connect to Ultimate Team. Sure, maybe we won't be able to play a match together, but you'll still be able to connect for the transfers and manage your club.
FIFA 18 on PS4, Xbox One and PC draws a new animation every frame, whereas FIFA 17 draws a new animation with every player step. Does the Switch version have this improvement?
Andrei Lazaresco: No. We used the fundamental base of FIFA code and innovated it. These are normal animations, so we're not using that new system.
So, it'll be more like last year?
Andrei Lazaresco: Yeah, if you want to make a comparison. But everything you see is custom-built, so I wouldn't compare it to anything else, because there is no reference point. This is the first game we put on Nintendo Switch. It's not that game downsized. It's not gen three up-rezzed. It's something that has been built with this console in mind entirely.
FIFA for me has to be 60 frames per second. Is it on Switch?
Andrei Lazaresco: It is, 100 per cent. Without 60 frames per second, you wouldn't be able to enjoy the game.
FIFA 18 on PS4, Xbox One and PC has great atmosphere effects for the stadiums. You can even go into the crowd to celebrate. Does the Switch version have any of that?
Andrei Lazaresco: No. Those are all powered by Frostbite. They do not live outside of the Frostbite engine.
You've overhauled the crossing for FIFA 18 on the other versions. Has it been changed on Switch also?
Andrei Lazaresco: Yep. This is entirely new crossing as well. Same control mechanic.
That version has a new hard tackle, too. Is that in?
Andrei Lazaresco: Yep. You can power up the tackle and release it at the right moment.
Does it have the quick substitutions of the other versions?
Andrei Lazaresco: No. I'll put it on the list.
I bet you have a long list.
Andrei Lazaresco: Yep, a very long list! As this was built almost from scratch, it sets a really good foundation base for the future for us to build upon. That's what we're excited for.

I'm impressed that they decided to build it from scratch. It seems it would have been easy for them to use old technology or a watered down version of the new engine, or just not make the game at all.
My interest in this game (as a non-soccer fan) stems from the hope that it does well enough for EA to consider committing to Madden. Something tells me that the Madden team won't necessarily have the gumption to build a fully-functioning game from scratch like FIFA, but maybe this will encourage them to try.

Unless they lied, beyond good and evil won't be there.

Then they are idiots because that is a powerful machine.
Only so low they can go with the price.
Specs don't win people over. The PS3 including a Bluray lead them to releasing an incredibly expensive console that they still lost over $200 on every one sold. Because it's strong or has cutting edge tech doesn't make the price a smart decision.
I'm late, but I thought MS had a good conference. They have a nice formula and it works well for them. Only major change that would have improved the conference would have been decreasing Forza time. The whole bringing the car on stage just wasted time they could have used to showcase cool stuff.

My favorite game shown so far is CodeVein. Antham did look cool, but I want to play single player.

What would his bias towards Sony have to do with hating on Anthem?

All I want from Sony is for them to release the PS1 classics on PS4.

Agreed. I went from skeptical to Day One Purchase for Fifa. If it's a full soccer experience, that's just awesome for on the go. (Can we bring back the 3v3 mode from like Fifa 98?)
