There's no point in getting the 4gb model playing on 1080p. It has the exact same performance as a 2gb model (unless you're using more than 2gb vram, which is highly unlikely at 1080p). Its also a very overpriced card.
So what makes cards different like 7950 and 7970? The chip?

At that lvl, chip and bus size.

I need to learn more about bus, that's next on the list
Posted on 3/13/13 at 7:59 pm to Mr Gardoki
Both 7950 and 7970 have 384-bit bus width
I just talked to NCIX and they told me that the case is actually out of stock
. Why don't yall change the fricking in stock bullshite to out of stock so I don't go wasting my fricking money on a case that won't get shippd for another week. frick NCIX and that bullshite, and to make it all better, newegg just got there shite in stock today.

Srb my question was is 30 meters of small enough to individually sleeve all the cables like 24 and 5 8 pins and have some left over?
Posted on 3/13/13 at 9:36 pm to puffulufogous
I got 100ft of paracord, and I felt like that was way too much...
Don't know how much that helps you though

Since this is basically our pc gaming thread, do you guys ever get tearing when your framerates are under your monitor limit? What causes that?

Check MDPC. I ordered 2 of each color in his small size. I've only done the CPU power (8 pin), my mobo power (24 pin) and pcie power (8 pin). I have done purple and yellow equally and I have PLENTY left.

And you got the pre cut heat shrink? Is it as awesome as everyone says?
Posted on 3/14/13 at 12:24 am to puffulufogous
The shrink is ok. You're just as well getting shrink from Lowes and cutting it yourself. Some Lowes have better shrink. Get 3:1 or better....2:1 is difficult. His shrink is 3:1 or 4:1. I ended up finding 3:1 locally.
If you want colored shrink or something then let me know before like 9 tomorrow and I'll grab some at micro center. If you'll pay shipping I'll send it for whatever it costs me. Frys has a damn good selection and I MAY be swinging back by there tomorrow.

Damn you live in primetime PC parts country.
There's no frys or microcenter within 4.5 hours of baton rouge

I'm 2 hours away from one. I still have never been.

appreciate the offer man, but I am not quite ready. I don't have a heat gun or any of the shite so I am pretty much going to keep trying to put it off until my desire to do that project wears off. Realistically I should spend my money on upgrades that improve performance before I blow it on cabling. lol
I am going to have to order sleeving anyway so I will just order the colored HS at the same time.

Srb do you know how much black heatshrink would be? I'm interested.
Puff, I don't use a heatgun. I find using a simple BIC lighter is easiest, and I have a top of the line heat gun too
Edit: Srb, go ahead and get me some black heat shrink. Shoot me an invite on steam so I can get your paypal info, my steam ID is bluebarracuda

How much are 3930k or 3960x at micro center?
Eta: the SO brought me down to size last night. I was about to purchase a 2011 board and a 3960x brand new when she started.
She is right though, this new build is killing me when we have a house coming up in <30days and purchasing a new truck in the next 1-2weeks.

Blue get you a heat gun from amazon.
I paid 30bucks for a new Kawasaki. The lighter works but you get a burnt film rolled over the surface IMO. Heat gun doesn't do that unless you keep it on too long.

Quick fact for the noobs.
Fermi (gtx 580) was 384 bit then nVidia brought Kepler (gtx 680) down to 256.
Where this comes into play is really higher resolutions and benches, but none the less it is making the 7970 shine in benchs because of the larger bus. Other reasons to but amds cards aren't choking when large packets of data is pushed to them.

I am still rocking this 570 (which was supposed to only be for a few weeks
) which has 320-bit. If it wasn't just a 1.25GB card I would buy another one and SLI but as it stands I am in the market for a card.

Stout what does dayz run at for you?
I stay at around 1400-1600mb @ 1440. Just wondering how close you are to hitting your cap.
