Between age of empires 2, mount and blade bannerlord, and CK3, I’m fully enveloped in medieval shite

Thanks! Do I need a gaming pc or will laptop be okay?

You'll be able to run it, but it might take a while to boot and the end-game will start to get really slow. It isn't a graphics hog, though.

Viking raids are so broken. It's so OP how I can just raid Paris, Venice, Constantinople with 0 resistance. Raid your neighbor and frick his shite up, then immediately declare war, easy clap. They gotta fix that

Is it worth it, to take over a small island,, and build it up? force truces and help others in battles, while creating a super island, or not worth?

going to get a game dealio for pc and xbone.

I doubt you will be able to come up with enough levies to really do anything by just focusing on building up one small island. Unless of course your main goal is to just raid everywhere and be another rulers little bitch duke or count then sure. But later in the game you will likely have trouble with that if your force is too small and trying to raid places that have high loot as it’s likely country you are looting will have huge levies and quickly deploy them to stop you. Unless you catch them while they are tied up in multiple wars I don’t think that’s a good strategy. You will have to expand or negotiate a lot of alliances to keep up otherwise other rulers will just try to take you over or subjugate you. I thought I was sitting pretty with Iceland. Looting away and just conquering the islands around Scotland. Then sure enough I have like 3 different rulers trying to take over some of my land and then the king of Norway just flat out trying to subjugate me once every 20 years. This has happened multiple times now. So basically I had to invade Scotland and Ireland to get more land and levies built so I could fend off attacks from these guys.

In this game I haven't done much playing tall (less land, more development on that land) but it could be very fun/immersive to play that way. I want to give it a shot. Like the Habsburgs let your diplomacy do the talking. I know EU4 is amazing for playing tall, if you havent played that game i highly recommend it! A microstate could be a power if built right. In CK, it seems like your lack of manpower will always get you stomped.

Started an easy campaign with Jarl Haesteinn out of Monteguit and watched a guide. Things are going way smoother

500g and I can make the kingdom of Brittany. That is unless this bald frick from West Francia has me murdered which I suspect he is really trying hard to do.

Starting out with a lot of levies and special armies and 10 champions makes things a lot easier.

Still not sure on titles and vassals and domains but I guess a lot of game sense is needed to optimize that

I go to one fricking feast, some event there gives me stress lvl 1 so I choose to drink to reduce it, then my ruler dies a year later due to drinking himself to death.

I became a kingdom , changed succession laws and used a hook to force the oppo to elect my son, so my dynasty still rules the kingdom. But frick, I liked jarl haesteinn and he was 35 martial

Tldr alcohol is dangerous

Eta: realm went to shite. Got holy Warred on, went broke, had to change faith, then got declared on again. Lost too much. Time to try again!

had a decent little dynasty going around the mongol/china border.

attend a feast, get stressed, use alcohol to reduce stress, become alcoholic, die 6 months later.

son takes the throne. things are going well. have army, alliances, gold etc. His heir dies of leprocy at 22. Then he dies of old age at 55

unwed 16 year old great-grandson takes throne. A faction forms under my uncle who i vassalized years ago. big mistake. He is a dwarf and a son of a concubine and had shitty stats so i never put him on the council. dude declares independence and i gave it to him strips my main title from me

year later, some war my liege is in ends up at my doorstep and i get imprisoned. ended the game at that point.

lesson learned; be careful who you vassalize and ignore.

got a new dynasty somewhere around present day ukraine that is showing promise . will end horribly im sure

Just got the game and damn it's fun. Playing as Barcelona and going to try and lead a holy war against the Moors.

new patch today. a lot of good fixes. too complicated for me to fully understand tbh but im sure it makes sense to experienced players.

Biggest thing for me is the penalty for not coming to an allys Call to Arms request for a defensive war.

'north korea mode' (going 200 or so over your holding limit) is no longer possible

setting an abduction scheme in place then declaring war 2 months before the scheme completes to get a free war win with 0 armies is no longer possible.

Learned the other night that if you play as the Byzantines (who have primogeniture even in 867) and choose the decision to reestablish the Roman Empire after meeting some requirements, the succession law immediately changes to Confederate Partition....FML

Lame, but ive watched some youtubes about how to plan for Confederate Partition so you dont get fricked.

Involves moving your realm capital outside your primary duchy and some frickery with granting county titles to other siblings before death

LINK

this link covers that. worth the 5minute watch

Yeah very addicting.

Ruler died at 58, son inherited some stuff but was split due to confed part. Allied with my brothers who took my titles cause why not.

Dumb brother goes into an outmatched war for a county i didnt want cause the leige had a bigger army calls, so he calls me to arms. I accept. Not looking good -50% warscore. I spent my last 250g on mercenaries, clean up, and end up winning the war.

I've got more prestige , renown , and allies than I know what to do with. My sister is married to some 60 year old king lol.

Married my daughter matrilinnealy cause I didn't have a son. But then a son came. So one son set to inherit everything.

Will end tragically I'm sure but damn in finally doing decent. Southwestern Russia

Yeah. I suck too. Just started selecting random rulers in 867 so I could learn the game and not start with an OP setup.

Use gold to build men at arms to counter enemy armies. Don't build buildings. Make sure your court is doing worthwhile things

Oh and during this war, my new ruler son was fricking his sister, got caught, and forbidden to continue. So he implemented a murder scheme on her husband because he got tired of seeing them together . So I was free to marry her into a better alliance.

That's where all your tax money comes from tho. Definitely worth it to go with a stewardship ruler every couple heirs and build up your primary castle and try to avoid wars
