Enthusiasm? Maybe.

Sales? Not even close.

The DLC numbers this time around are down compared to BLOPS 1 (hard to count MW3 DLC because of that stupid ELITE shite) and MW3 sold less units than BLOPS 1.

Time will tell where BLOPS 2 ends up but as it stands I think this is the decline in sales that was inevitable for the CoD series.

Activision today confirmed a new Call of Duty game will launch in 2013. The news was revealed during a post-earnings financial call, where Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg also revealed the new entry in the franchise is not expected to perform as well as the record-breaking Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Already setting the bar low because they see the numbers

If it's next gen then it seems like it would be extremely lower no matter how the final product turns out.

That doesn't explain the current dip in DLC sales.

I will say that blops 2 revamped the competitive scene in call of duty, it was dying after blops 1 and mw3. Now whether or not that translates to anything (sales, DLC, whatever) is a different story. The competitive side is also like 5% of the games users so that doesn't amount to a lot.

no but it does justify his statement. I'm glad they are moving to the next gen consoles in order to add SOMETHING new to the series. I have no faith in IW/sledgehammer making a good game but I will be interested in Treyarch's first entry on the next gens (assuming Nov. 2014 release).

fwiw I haven't bought either DLC from Blops 2 or played the game since January due to a scratched disc so I don't know if they're shite or not

I'll play it occasionally when I can't think of anything else to play, and I get blown away by how quick the reflexes are of the people that stuck with the game. No way I can react that fast.

The game is pure chaos.

I still think the biggest issue with blops 2 was just that the maps sucked. I really liked the actual game style and hard point was a nice new game mode.

My biggest beef still is the shotties. They are like spartan lasers with a 50 ft swath.

At least 50% if not more of the people trashing COD will do exactly that. It's a sickness.

I agree as well. It's on the mountaintop of success and I do not believe we'll see another title replicate its success for years to come. Still, it'll sell 20+ million in its first year which is still a incredible amount of software.

Pretty sure that's incorrect. BLOPS 2 did sell less than MW3 though (although it still has a good chance to pass it as it remains in the top 10 montly sales for NA).
