I'm shocked that my parents spent this kind of money on me when I was 10. Seriously, $70 for Mortal Kombat or NBA Hang Time? LINK

That's not right. They would run ~$30-$40 per.

I remember paying $72 after tax at KayBee toys in Lake Chuck for Madden '93 on Sega.

Original Nintendo games sold for 60 if I remember right
I've been shocked with each new console that they haven't upped the price on us lately

It is so weird seeing a gameboy ad and not seeing a Pokemon game

Reason being is their profit margins have probably increased since then, because making the tech/games has gotten way way cheaper but the prices obviously don't reflect that.

Ya, I remember, maybe incorrectly, SNES games being about $35 to $40

CD/DVD/blu ray are a lot cheaper to produce than cartridges. I remember seeing Strider for Genesis for $70 and I thought that was ridiculous. Most games were $50 brand new.

Also I just realized that was Toys R Us.
Toys R Us used to be the highest priced place for games BY FAR during the 90s. I remember being a kid during that time and my parents never let us buy stuff from them, but we could look around at the selection and they would find a better price elsewhere.

I keep waiting on this to happen. With each new generation I expect to see a 5-10$ increase but it never happens.

I remember Mission: Impossible for the N64 being $60 at Toys-R-Us.

As another bit of triva: 70 dollars then is approximately 100 dollars now.

I remember them being around that price, but that's a couple of years after their release. I think they ran 50+ around their release date
