I’m used to pain in the a$$ inventory management from Horizon Zero Dawn. Waiting til tonight so I can get a solid 2-3 hours in. Hopefully I can figure out what’s what control wise before too long.

Game is meh.. I like some of the older entries but this is garbage

This is incorrect.
I'm already Monster Hunter rank 8, so I'm pretty far, and I'm the only person who can go back and play with friends. And before I can even join in with them, they have to progress so far into the mission. They have to watch a cut scene before I can even join in.
It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen implemented into a video game. It isn't a huge deal, because thus far it doesn't really entail doing anything because the cut scene doesn't roll until you actually find the monster. It's just a massive inconvenience. though.
Like if you have a group of 4 people wanting to play, three of them go in and get to the cut scene, have to quit out and then join the fourth person after they see the scene themselves.

I have the dual blades.
Enjoying it so far. Doing more side quests than anything.
The fighting is a little clunky at times and I dislike how the monsters always run, but I’m enjoying it overall.

Bow was my other choice.
I always tend to pick ranged or speed/daggers.

The biggest issue is the inability to change directions once an attack is initiated and the enemies are agile and always moving. I should be able to turn with an attack as an enemy moves.

The great thing with the Monster Hunter games is that all the weapons are viable, limited mainly by your understanding of how to use the weapon for that monster you're fighting.
Started hammer this time as I like knocking out the big bastards. I've played the series off and on since Freedom Unite hooked me on the PSP. All you noobies here, enjoy being able to turn your camera with the right stick and never having to claw grip a dpad for it!
How far is everyone so far in the story? I'm at the 2nd 4* quest I think it is, right after the TRex that roasted my arse a couple times. Armor with -fire was not a good idea

The control scheme is so different than any other game it feels really bizarre. With that said, I like it so far. I’m not far, I think my next mission is to kill the T-Rex thing. I have been using the katana. I will probably switch it up though.

Same here. Katana is like the mid range between the small and large weapons, but I don't feel as if it is good at anything.
Going to try the lance tonight.
