So did they fix the shooting mechanics in 1? I remember trying it years ago and I absolutely hated how it played from the get go and dropped it fast. Feels really good now. Wasn't sure if that was my tastes changing or they made it better.

Yes, they made an effort to improve the shooting in 1.

I remember them mentioning Eden Prime so much in the other games and Eden Prime was like 10 minutes lol. I was expecting a lot more

Eden Prime should have taken you longer than 10 minutes, but yeah, it's more prologue than a huge section of the game.

But, outside of play time, it's one of the most important events in recorded galactic history. Humanity's most promising colony gets wiped out by a race of sentient synthetics, which is then the launching off point the elevation of the first human spectre, their ascension to being a member of the council, and ultimately an existential war for the survival of every race in the galaxy?

Hell, the First Contact War probably gets referenced more often than Eden Prime, and you don't get to play that at all

They made if objectively more similar to other shooters. Which some hard core fans don't like, but will make your experience better.

well the sniper is actually useful now.

Also since the inventory fix i just sell all the weapons i find and i can easily get over 1 million credits in a few missions.

It couldn’t have been much more than 10 minutes. Maybe 20ish. You walk. Run into Ashley. Walk to dog site. Walk to spaceport. Kill the bombs. And then get zapped by artifact. Pretty quick flow.

Also, I no where get the impression that Eden Prime is as big as you say.

Pretty sure the colony isn’t wiped out. Just attacked How badly is Symantec’s but they definitely allude to their being function still

They rebuilt farms a few years later. The colony went from several million people to almost nothing after the attack.

As for how long it took, which difficulty level are you playing on?

Yeah, there’s a elevator notice though about how people are terrified to live in colonies now and are leaving in droves

I believe normal. There wasn’t anything difficult about it though. I may have died once? Maybe I skipped stuff?

If you're used to playing shooters at all, Normal is likely too easy for you. I play on Hardcore (because I find Insanity more of a chore than fun), but I would suggest anyone who is at all decent with shooters to at least play on Veteran.

This is a breakdown of the differences: LINK

Ok, so not looking for challenges in combat. Did you take things slow to find the narrative segments that are placed for you to find? Did you find the farmers? Did you talk to the scientists? Did you talk to Powell?

Anyone got a character in the game that rubs you the wrong way?

Admiral Hackett gets on my nerves. I'm in a big moment and dude butts in over the comm telling me "You still work for us, so you got to go do this, blah blah" I'm like "Do I know you? I'm a freaking SPECTRE baw"

Not to mention the times he has you handle his hot topic mission and then leaves you to take the heat when it comes down.

Ashley Williams. When I played the series when it first came out I always chose her over Kaiden but my God she sucks.

He doesn't bother me, but if this is your first playthrough, yeah, he's kind of annoying in ME1. He gets better

Though if you play out his missions perfectly, he does give the best compliments afterwards.

I had pre-ordered this but life has been getting in the way and hadn't gotten a chance to play until last night.

Was only able to get a few minutes in but really enjoyed the graphics and new gameplay. It will make going through all 3 games more enjoyable and feel like less of a chore in ME1.

I picked it up yesterday. looking forward to a weekend of not shite to do finally and just play this. And never played through one, just two and three.

Other than updated graphics also excited that my choices, or at least what ive read, will carry through all 3 games.

Not literally every choice, but a lot of them. It's a great series. Make sure to do every mission you can. In some instances, not doing them is definitely considered a "choice" both in the game you're in, as well as later games.

haven't played this since release and I've forgotten a lot of stuff outisde the main story beats. cant wait to fire it up. almost feel like I need to blow some PTO so I have time to put a dent in it.

Anyone playing on Insanity to start out? I'm a trophy guy and want to try to knock everything out in one playthrough of each. What class should I run?

Not I. First playthrough (as opposed to NG+) Insanity is a fricking chore, and I didn't want my first run of LE to be tarnished that way

That's what I'm worried about. A lot of people online say it's not even that hard...it's just a tedious undertaking that isn't fun. I guess I'll do the same as you and if I decide to try Insanity later, that'll be that.
