The first 3D offering in the series. I don't think I'll ever be able to duplicate the feeling I had when I first got to Hyrule Field. Plus the Temple of Time mechanic was pretty mind blowing. Going back and forth between young and older Link to be able to access certain areas, either because you were small enough to or because the entrance was only accessible in the past or future. The game did a lot.

I won't say definitively say it's the best in the series, but it's up there, and was definitely revolutionary for Zelda.

This is the first pillar of your argument??

I've never liked Majora's Mask. I think it has some neat ideas, but I just don't enjoy playing it. I want to give the 3DS remkae a shot one day but I'm not in a rush.

My 3 favorite are:
LTTP
WW
BOTW

I can admit that OOT is a more revolutionary game than WW and BOTW but it just didn't capture my imagination as much for some reason. I was a little late to the party on it, though, since I never owned a N64. The first time I played through it all the way was on Gamecube with the WW pre-order bonus disc.

Nostalgia and Impact on gaming. The newer generations won't see it that way, but that game's impact is absolutely massive.

This artificially elevates something even when something else does all of its innovations better - a la Wind Waker.

MM is just too off kilter for me to be the best Zelda. That's the beauty of the game, true, but it just isn't an iconic version of the series.

MM has the best world and sidequests of the series, not even close. Ikana canyon/castle, frozen to spring snowhead, kafei/anju quest, romani ranch alien invasion and gorman bros fight, sneaking into gerudo fortress

sooooo much good stuff. masks are a blast. lots of really clever mechanics keep it fresh.

it really lacks in temples though.

OoT has the best temples in the series and a very good world.

OoT gets the edge for me.

I agree, but can’t take BOTW into consideration because I haven’t bit the bullet for a switch yet.

Its a good game but doesn't touch OoT or MM. Don't let your expectations get too high on it before playing.

Wind Waker was awesome but too easy. Like way too easy. All other elements of the game were legit though. Loved the story, loved the art direction especially in hindsight, loved the music, and I even liked the sailing as it made me feel like the world was vast.

I agree.

Sick in bed and not explaining what should be easy to see.

15 fps gameplay with dithered graphics. Mind changed.

It's the bi-annual MM thread, with all the same characters in it.

Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time should not be mentioned in the same sentence as MM and WW.

Its a toss up between BotW and OoT for me. OoT had the best story but BotW gameplay and world size are insane.

I hated the 3 day reset thing in MM.

How are we supposed to interpret this sentence?

What a fool you are.. sorry you can't recognize a good story.

No other game in the series has the emotion MM packs in.

I realize the gaming board is overflowing with new topics and exciting gaming related discussion , so I hope that this one doesn't push off an incredible topic from the front page.

I wouldn't disagree that it is one of the easier games of the series, I just don't think that matters for "Best Zelda game," like it might for "Best Bullet Hell game."

graphics and difficulty are low on my Zelda priorities list.

I tend to favor story, npcs, environment, and unique mechanics

I am a fool.

Story in a Zelda game? What is that?
