Yeah im super hyped for that one especially since they finally got Laras look and style right for once. Nice to see its coming in 2026 i had seen the trailer but not watched till the end for the release

This is a remake of the original yes? With them also working on a new original entry with the same Lara to come after?

I fear that it won’t be long though before Sony transitions to live service games as well. The day that happens is the day I’ll stop playing console games altogether. Sony moving their HQ to America was the nail in the coffin.

Yes, or maybe/or more accurately a reimagining of the original TR, and next year we get a new entry in the series, correct. Hoping for the best!

Well they have been developing live service games for years dude....some good (Hell Divers 2, GT 7) some bad (Concord) and they have Marathon coming out in few weeks with 2 Horizon based live service games and few other in the pipeline.

A live service game doesnt necessarily mean its bad imo. As long as the core gameplay is good, and there arent pay to win elements introduced, games designed with long term engagement in mind can be great. Arc Raiders is probably my favorite online game of the past 6 months or so and is great example of good live service game.

I honestly dont get this doom and gloom talk. Sony's first party output has been pretty sparse this generation and their leadership seem to be making some shite decisions. Some heavy hitters like Ubisoft and Microsoft owned game studios seem like they are in a downward spiral, but there is still an absolute plethora of great games coming out all the time. And I dont know any gamer that doesnt have a back log of games that they havent played that isnt years long.

I have echoed much of what you’re saying in different ways in this thread.

Except one thing i fundamentally disagree with full throated. With very very rare exceptions, imo, live service does mean bad. It means this game is unfinished and we spent an ungodly amounts of cash making this because we’re irresponsible and need to launch it in a beta state while we drip feed you mostly slop content.

Again there are exceptions to this but it’s very very rare

Just my take

This is the only game on the horizon i can say i am excited for. the recent PS state of play had a lot of quality to it, just not games to my personal preference.

Xbox is basically dead to me at this point.

i dont think the gaming industry is in a bad state though. We have had great games in high numbers over the last several years and will continue to.

Guess we kinda have to define live service....which I define as game that the developer intends to continually update and monetize long term.

Yeah but how many of those are there that actually release in what you would consider a fully complete gone gold 1.0 content complete state? Where they intend to build on that finished product over time?

This almost never happens imo. I don’t play these games anymore because of this but from what I gather from friends, people I know in the industry, an more Arc Raiders is an example of one that did this.

Sony apparently went in HARD to acquire exclusivity rights for Crimson desert. They wanted it to be a similar title to Death stranding where it’s not technically a Sony studio but is a Sony game in all but name

To me this adds massive credibly to it and give me way more confidence it will deliver

Assuming they aren't full of shite, these are extremely reasonable system reqs for a AAA game in 2026:

DEATH STRANDING 2
I thought the 1st game was boring af

Felt like a balancing physics game with a bit of shooting and story that felt written by a dude that loves the smell of his farts.

Played it for about 3 hours, uninstalled

Really my only take.

If the second game is better, I will consider it.

Fleekazoid: The crazy thing about Crimson Desert, the more they show me, the less I feel I know about the game. Swords, Dragons, AND MECHS????? I mean. . .let's go I guess
