Might be unpopular but I enjoyed this one more than BOTW. I think it’s because the big baddie is Ganondorf and it just felt more like a Zelda game.

Ocarina has been my favorite Zelda game since I was a kid but I think TOTK just took the top spot.

**Spoilers**

Zelda transforming into the dragon fricked me up a little. shite was so sad and helpless. Getting her back at the end though was such a relief and seemed like we finally had a true happy ending to a Zelda game and not just bittersweet.

I would love to see this Link and Zelda again but I don’t know how you proceed after that ending. It’s a perfect send off

I thought it was kinda boring and tedious. Felt like all I did was cook stuff so I wouldn’t freeze and try to put sticks together when my weapons broke

I don't necessarily think that's an unpopular opinion Tears of the Kingdom is a bigger/better version of BotW.

I liked BotW's intro better though.

Some things annoyed me with Tears of the Kingdom such as the requirements to upgrade armor. I should not have to stand on the back of a Dragon for over an hour to upgrade a chestpiece.

Being able to create your own weapons is really cool, but it's still lame how they break after 5-6 hits.

That's how I felt. Yeah, the first few hours in BOTW were probably better just experiencing how vast the game is, but Tears is essentially a huge DLC for BOTW. I also felt like the powers in TOTK were way better than BOTW.

I honestly would have preferred it if Zelda got stuck in a dragon state permanently.

Seems like it should be irreversible and it would have meant more to the story if she sacrificed herself to be a vessel for the sword and hyrules salvation.

The game itself was fine. It is so similar to botw that they almost bleed together in my mind.

I really enjoyed these 2 Zeldas but I hope the next iteration drops the stamina and weapon breaking mechanics. Also I hope we one day get a Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remastered port

Really wish they would just ditch the shrines…remove weapon durability….add 10+ large dungeons built into the beautiful world they created.

Basically take the OoT model and scale it to BoTW size.

Seems clear based on dev comments that they're sticking with open world, but I agree with you that I hope they find a nice way to marry the open world with more classic Zelda stuff

I liked the stamina stuff but weapon durability, in any game, is horrible. I can't stand it, especially with how it's implemented in these two games and, as someone else said, weapons break in 5-6 hits.

Could absolutely go with this.

I liked BOTW better because I'm old and am not a fan of all the building/crafting that is so prevelant in modern games. shite was tedious as hell to me. I also liked how it was a chore to get around BOTW for the first half of the game. Made you really explore the world and thus get killed in the process.

I think this is a good criticism of TOTK. If TOTK was the only game, it would be incredible how there are 3 levels to explore. However, it was tough to get excited to transverse the ground level because you already did it in BOTW. The sky tier was too small, and the underground tier was too vast and monotonous.

If they want to keep the open world concept for the next game, I think they have to go to a different locale like Link's Awakening.

I'd love to see an ocean setting game in the BOTW/TOTK style (maybe a little different, with more traditional zelda stuff). Think vast archipelagos, tropical islands, underwater areas with lots of swimming and boating. Could be really cool

That was my favorite part for sure. And the fact they didn't necessarily hide the story, er memories, this time. They explicitly showed you where they were.

It was definitely my favorite iteration of Gannondorf (maybe tied with Windwakers) and I was legit in shock they actually showed him assassinate the queen.

Really enjoying it. I only started recently. Having three maps (Sky, regular and depths) was brilliant for making it even bigger. Not sure where Zelda goes after this but I definitely prefer open world, non linear Zelda over historical structure. For fricks sake why won’t they make it realistic looking? The cel shading isn’t bad but a realistic Zelda with graphics like the Witcher would be really sweet. Also want the durability and stamina crap gone.

Same for me. The voice actor did an incredible job. I also really liked Raru. I wasn’t sure how much I would like the voice acting starting with BOTW but I think they made a perfect decision leaving Link mute but having everyone else voice acted. I felt more invested in the characters

I know linearity is out the window in these games but it did a real disservice to the story they were trying to tell here. It worked okay in BotW since most of the memories were fairly self-contained, but TotK's memory narrative was linear. The game nudges you in the correct order, but I think it would've been more impactful to enforce that order. I stumbled on the big spoilery memory way earlier in my playthrough than I would have liked.

The depths were monotonous but I loved the atmosphere of the abandoned mines and wish they'd been more built out.

The sky was meh.

All of the new mechanics are really interesting and fun to try, but I found my general "style" to be about 90% of what I had done in BotW.

The expanded bestiary is impressive but--I can't believe I'm saying this--it needed to be bigger. Taking down your first few boko bosses and gleeoks is thrilling, but even those become ho-hum after a while. And there's only so many combinations of liz/boko/moblins you can throw at me before it just gets boring.

Ganondorf battle was great. Second-favorite in the series behind WW.

It was a blast to play but I don't think I'm going to play it again anytime soon.

Because ultimately Zelda is a game that is geared to each generation of kids first. We all love it as we were those kids at different points.

Hopefully we hear some news about the movie soon. I'm really interested who would play Gannondorf.

Just discovered that you can build Link a house. It’s not super customizable or anything but it is a nice touch they added to the game. Zelda took over his house in Hateno Village it looks like
