"This thread has been quite entertaining, but something here is off.
You bump what is basically a dead thread to revive this argument, one that sicboy is using quite successfully I might add, to troll the folks over here. Why? And what a strange way to start a post"

Alter? okay. Heaven forbid there be more than 1 liberal minded person in 1 thread at once. And I don't even consider myself a true liberal, more of a educated and open minded moderate. Something this website severely lacks. I thought maybe a video game subforum would be more open to other's opinions.

I'm sorry I ruined your D.E.I. hating pity party, with the typical tigerdroppings undertones of racism. Please continue shitting on what will be a great game. One that'll you'll likely lie about playing.

DEI committees aren't for celebration and acknowledgement. They are for reshaping and pandering. Full stop.

And on top of that, anything that promotes socio-economic equity for immutable characteristics is inherently evil.

Equality is good, and a noble pursuit
Equity in a "social justice" sense, is evil

No where in my post do I take a side in either argument. You have decided that since have have not supported you lockstep then I must be against you. That's not very open minded of you at all.

But not educated enough to understand when to use "an" instead of "a", Mr. More Intelligent Liberal.

Save your typo and "grammar Nazi" comebacks, please.

That’s funny because you’re the one who’s usually in the gaming threads talking to yourself keeping the thread going single-handedly

ETA BTW, I finally finished FFXVI a few months ago. Really enjoyed it, I might get the DLC at some point. I did look at the trophies list thinking I would go back and trophy hunt for the plat but I might pass on that.

Glad you enjoyed it mate. Happy to spread my love of FF. I definitely think Rebirth is a better game and you should pick it up if you haven’t.

I have part 1 of the remake (whatever it's called) and I've never been able to get through it. As many good things as I've heard about Rebirth, I feel I should get through the first one before attempting it.

Maybe that's could be next on my list. I'm just replaying games I've already finished currently. And Elden Ring hates me so I'm currently hating it back.

Rebirth is a lot better of a game than Remake imo. On a number scale I’d go a 9.5 and a 7 respectively. It’s got probably the best “Ubisoft” style open world I’ve ever seen tied with maybe Ghost of Tsushima and the combat is heavily expanded on and with more characters. There’s a ton of a mini games and actually over 50% of them are quite fun. It’s easily a 100 hour game that’s quality throughout. But yes, you really must finish remake first even though it’s far more on rails and guided or you’ll have no idea what’s going on.

It means pandering and propping up one group at the expense of another, due to a social slight in which neither party perpetrated, participated, nor had inflicted upon them to balance some kind of cosmic scales.

Another OT "moderate" who magically is only critical of anyone right of Chairman Mao.

Let's see how moderate you are. Criticize the current administration at the policy level.

I'll wait.

Are you ok with hiring or promoting someone based solely on their race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation?

Yes or no question.

Based strictly on that, no. But giving them opportunities when they ordinarily wouldn't, absolutely. Look at the Rooney rule in football. It isn't that they have to hire a minority, they have to at least interview one. Not sure how affective the NFL is with that, but I've worked with a few companies where the hire is rarely based on the most qualified person, it's about who you know or who you feel comfortable with. You might like to pretend it's a level playing field for all, but it simply isn't, and we don't see it because being a white male is the easiest thing on the planet.

When I worked as a contractor on an Air Force base, not down the line, but often it was clear that the women program managers were more put together, more capable , because they had to earn most of it. Nothing was handed to them (please save the slept their way to the top jokes). And I contrast that with some of the men that it was clear they shouldn't be in charge and only got the job because they knew someone.

So yeah, short answer, I'm all for giving those demographics a chance when ordinarily they couldnt get it.

I had this conversation with someone recently so I have a lot to say

That’s a far cry from DEI initiatives like for example, the former head of the secret service setting a goal of 30% females being employed by 2030. Also while changing physical fitness requirements for females. How did that work out and where is she now? Don’t you think physical requirements are pretty important for a job like protecting a (former) president?

It’s about hiring the best for the job. I’d doubt most in this thread are against your Rooney Rule example, or the example of always hiring based on who you know. The latter goes both ways no matter the demo or gender of the person hiring so let’s not pretend it’s only when white males are hiring.

We are really in the weeds in this thread now. I was honestly pretty happy earlier when I thought td had killed another
