If you’re saying it’s the best modern Bond? Fair. Best reboot? Absolutely. Best Bond movie ever? frick No.
Which gets your vote?

Even if you liked the film it still changed bond as a character due to instilling "modern values"
It didn’t “instill modern values”, in spite of what ChatGPT is feeding you; it simply had deeper, more complex characterization… that followed the plot of the novel written in fricking 1953
Casino Royale was the first Bond book Flemming wrote. What happens to Bond in that novel, and movie, turned Bond into what he was in later iterations. To call that a “modernization” fundamentally misunderstands the character.

Are people into Bond as much as they claim to be? This is just me, I maybe watched Goldfinger (probably not all of it), I think I watched all the Brosnan films mainly because of the game, which I played before I knew there was a movie. I saw Casino Royale (it was ok aside from the absurd poker game), I thought Skyfall was really good. I think I like the idea of James Bond but I wouldn't say I'm that much of a fan. I would probably take the Mission Impossible series over Bond if I'm being truthful.

Changing it from baccarat to hold em to tap into the then-current zeitgeist was a choice I don’t particularly agree with

Yeah, everything was about Texas Hold Em back then. And at the end, each hand got progressively more and more impossible.

In fairness, movies struggle with even single “rounds” of games, from cards to chess, even when they don’t affect the plot. Having multiple plot affecting rounds is hard to pull off. Even something like Rounders wasn’t perfect.
Not making excuses as much as giving the reason it isn’t a deal breaker for me in evaluating the movie as a movie.

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of 007 is rape?
Jesus christ, you're a caricature at this point.

There are some things better left unsaid.

IO did a good job with their recent Hitman trilogy.
those games are great and I'd recommend them to anyone who hasn't played them still today. they hold up well.
its an example of games that never crossed my radar until after their release and then I was hooked for months.

I went on a nice binge whenever hitman 2 came out and I kept up with it through Hitman 3's release window.
I would like to eventually get my hands on a VR headset and dust it back off to see how VR changes up the gameplay. I think I may pick up a steam frame at some point if they aren't completely outrageous price wise.
I appreciated how open ended the gameplay was. I felt like I barely scratched the surface of what was possible. I assume that this 007 will have some of the same game design DNA. sucks that they feel the need to virtue signal about this title but perhaps it will be worth a play after a deep sale.

it really wont feel like Bond without hot women. But I wanted another Hitman game more than a Bond game so I will still play it if it delivers that
