How many runs did it take you to beat Hades the first time?

I never finish games like this, but for some reason the core loop hooked me on Hades and I actually ended up finishing a run on run 43. now i'm on run 80 and I dont see myself ever quitting this game. there is still fresh dialog popping up all the time and i feel like there are a lot of buffs to weapons that I haven't even gotten to try yet, this is by far the most well done action roguelight i've played, Returnal is the only game that can hold a candle to it graphically in the entire genre, but thats a shooter.

It took quite a few for me to complete a run as well. After getting over that mental hurdle, I strung a bunch of wins in a row together.
There are some really cool things later that allow you to increase the difficulty of the game and make it even more challenging, and it will make you think of the things you're doing now as child's play. I think the game really opens up after you win 10 times.

You have to do a shitload of runs just to finish the whole story, and yea, there's a ton of content you haven't done yet, just keep adding to the heat gauge.
One of the best games ever made IMHO, sucks the new one will be early access and not just a straight release.

I came very close on my 3rd run thanks to insanely good luck with drops and haven’t come as close since. It’s not something I constantly work towards, I’ll just randomly fire it up here and there and do a run or two. Think I could do it if I really focused in

This was back in early 2021 but I want to say around 10-20 I remember a good bit of my early deaths were shortly into Tartarus since I was getting used to the game. Asphodel starting out was actually not that bad, but then Elysium destroyed me. Styxx felt easy after dealing with some of the enemies in Elysium. Hades got me twice before I managed to beat him. The highest heat that I got through was 11.

I'm still struggling with it. Its taken me a while to figure out what boons are worth getting in the first place and using poms on. I was cruising this morning with the bow with 3 death defiances until I ran into elite splitters with no means of deflection. That ate up a life. Then I lost one to the minotaur trying to tank the last 1/20th of his life bar. Handled Hades pretty well until his second form and died about half way into his life bar. Was crushed

One thing to remember is that even as you're getting your arse kicked when starting the game, you are still (usually) unlocking things that will make future runs easier.
There are some good guides on steam for weapons/aspects and boons that synergize with them.

It took me 70 runs to beat Hades for the first time but some of that was me focusing on doing unlocks, weapon upgrades, etc, to have a permanent improvement.

I think I beat Hades for the first time on my 39th run. Ive probably gotten 200 runs under my belt at this point. Beat it on 10 heat and decided to take a break and never picked it up again. One of the best games ever made in my opinion.

Attempt 21 was my first escape. Thought it was going to snowball after that but it really hasn't that much. Runs are definitely easier, but the modifiers kinda keep that in check.

FYI - Anyone with Netflix can download Hades as an IOS game for free.
Have not played that version yet but it apparently supports Bluetooth controllers which are likely a really good idea.

Pretty fun. Managed to beat the first level with the shield.

Made it to the hydra twice but died. Both spear and shield.

What's everyone's favorite cast? I absolutely shredded with Athena cast plus upgrades. Ended up getting the legendary ability with immediate recall of stones. It was over

Cast depends on what weapon you are using since certain ones (bow, shield in particular) mess with your ability to use them.
Trippy Shot is up there. I tend to like Demeter’s frozen shot as well because, if it is an immobile enemy, you can get a ton of damage and frost on it.
As far as divine support goes, Aphrodite is up there because she can do 2500 damage at max. I believe Artemis can do the same, which is about 1/3 a boss’s health.

managed to beat the duo and get to Styx once, using the fists. I can reliably get through Elysium, but those two are a challenge.
