If I recall correctly, Harry Potter should have been in the Slytherin house but he convinced the sorting hat to put him into Gryffindor.

Well, partly because he had part of Voldemort's soul in him

But yes, there are no good and bad houses. All of them have had some awful people and great people. Merlin was a Slytherin afterall. It is just that slytherin does have a very troubled history with the pure blood ideology, which leads to a lot of witches and wizards that believe in that ideology.

Yall are making me really interested in getting this game though. This takes place far before Tom Riddle/Potter, correct? Do they give a year?

I really enjoyed what I played of it last night, and I basically did nothing but running around and exploring. It takes place in 1890 during the 4th Goblin rebellion apparently.

This is part of the flaw in the HP books. Everything is from Harry’s perspective and at an early age he’s influenced by both Ron, Hagrid and Draco into believing all Slytherins are either psychotic and evil (Snape, Voldy) or arrogant bullies (Draco, Crabbe and Goyle). It also doesn’t help that there are only two good characters from that house (Snape, Slughorn) and pretty much every single fricking good character was in Gryffindor. The only good characters that weren’t complete snobs, weirdo fricks or pieces of shite that weren’t in Gryffindor were Tonks and Cedric and maybe Luna.

Harry doesn’t really change his mind until the final chapter in the books when he lets his son know it’s ok if he’s sorted into Slytherin and it was only because Snape was a badass and saved Harry’s arse AGAIN. Slytherins’ value ambition, something Harry never ever had. His whole attitude the whole series is that he just wants to be normal. He doesn’t work hard unless his life depends on it. He hates the actual school aspect of Hogwarts, never studies or does homework and doesn’t really value intelligence. Slytherins would hate to be normal. They want to be the best.

I spent the first 6 hours in hogwarts castle then finally went outside…. It’s gorgeous and had tons to do in just the small town I went to.
Did a quest through this he forbidden forest and it was amazing too.

Need to get the alohamora spell to access more areas.

I got the the chamber map area where you finally unlock the skill tree and I was level 18.

Exactly. There isn't a ton of difference between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The key difference is the ambition of Slytherin is more geared to gaining power and influence whereas Ravenclaw is built around knowledge and academic success. Both will do whatever it takes to achieve those ends.

Yea i spent a bunch of time just exploring. After a while I finally just started focusing on the story so I could get my personal wand. Now back to exploring and side quests

This game is going to go just like Witcher 3 did. I am going to be a god before getting into any of the real story

Speaking of which, what did everyone go with for their wand?

I went Elder Wood - 14.5" - Phoenix Core - Hard Flexibility - with the Natural style with the grey color.

Edgy

As for the wand question. I did whatever the pottermore thing gave me. It really has no effect outside of personal preference.

My goal now is to get the alohamora and the mount/broom. I did the broom class and it was fun.

Imagine how pathetic his life has to be to spend time and effort going through and downvoting all the posts in a game he doesn't like and won't play.

The game has a little bit of the Bully feel for me.

Just finished the Hogsmeade quest and absolutely loving the game so far. It is surreal lookingat and exploring a fully realized and gorgeous Hogwarts. 12 year old me would be freaking tf out.

I REALLY hope they add New Game + eventually so you can go back and play through as different houses with all your shite unlocked already.

After it took so long to just get everything you need to really start having fun, you’re a good 5 or more hours into the game. Really hurts replay value for me even though I really want to as other houses

Just came to say the same thing. I just spent an hour and a half just going through all the customization options. Changing colors and sizing of everything. Then changing the aesthetic of the room itself and then changing ambience. shite it was hard just sticking with one aesthetic because I like all of them except the Scientific stuff.

Gothic is what I ended up settling on but I imagine I’ll end up changing it in other playthroughs. The Botantical options were enticing too. Love how that one felt like a hobbit hole.

I linked accounts with Pottermore and it pulled in my house and whatever that wand was. It let me skin it to have a slight twist and a dark stain, and I've looted a few "handles" that have further customized it as I've gone along.
