I started playing this over the Thanksgiving break, and I sat down and put in 4 hours of gaming for the first time in quite a long time. My busy life keeps me from getting to play very often, and when I do I don't get to play for long. I was looking for something a bit simple and fun that I can leave and get back to later without having to relearn complicated button sequences. I researched and came upon this game.

Holy shite it's a blast! The writing and voice acting in it are on point. Sure the graphics don't live up to many of the games out there today, but they are pretty good in their own rights. The gameplay reminds me of something between God of War and Uncharted, which are two of my favorite games.

I did a search here and no results came up, but I do know the search function can be faulty at times. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a linear, simple and fun story game experience. It's well worth the time, and it's not expensive.

I picked it up for $16 on GMG and I’m about 5 hours in - on chapter 4. Amazing so far. Combat is just okay but everything else makes up for that in a huge way. I’ve laughed out loud several times on the dialogue.

“Last and certainly least, Peter Jason Quill.”

‘Wait that’s it?’

Same. It's very well written with many lulz moments.

It's simplistic but fun. There are far better combat engines out there (Horizon), but this one serves its purpose. This is not a game for the challenging experience; this is for those easy no thinking moments.

Solid game, well written and fun. Really wears out its welcome towards the end. Last few sections are tedious and I couldn't wait for the ending

My only disappointment was that they don't let you play as the other characters other than calling on them to do something.

After spending 10 hours or so in Gotham Knights, I feel like they could have implemented something like that where you change characters while inside the ship or something.

The story was really good. The boss fights were entertaining accompanied by a badass soundtrack.

This is basically my position. I genuinely enjoyed it, but as I was reaching the end, I was about ready for it to be done. Well worth playing, though. And it can routinely be had for fairly cheap on sale.

Haven’t been this motivated to actually finish a game in a long time. On Chapter 7 now I believe - for once actually going to finish a game and not have it sit in my library for years after logging the initial couple of hours.

You did, but it goes on sale a few times a year. Just put it on your wishlist and you'll get an email from Steam next time it drops. Anyway, historical pricing data:

I got it for $16 at Green Man Gaming - always a great site if you’re an XP member. It’s free afaik.

Couple of places groot just disappeared, so i couldn't progress until i had closed and reopened it. Performance on the Series S was complete arse in some places. Turned into a repetitive slog at the end.

There were some fun parts, like the first big battle you have, all the chaos with an awesome soundtrack. It was pretty fun.

Feel like this game needed another year in development and it would have been superb. Rushed it out for a payday.

I feel like Guardians and Gotham Knights could have taken pages out of each others' books (I know GotG released a while back now).

I love that GotG has all team members fighting together, but I hate that you can only ever control Quill.

On the other hand, I love that Gotham Knights lets you play with every character but it seems dumb that they only go out one at a time. If Gotham Knights could incorporate single player team battles where you can signal AI controlled players to do certain actions then that would have been perfection.
