Is anyone on here playing it? I loved the first 3 years ago and was thinking about picking it up. Anyone played it and have any reviews? Thanks. Also anyone wanna run some co-op? Gears has always had a great story

I've played all except judgement. I'll pick it up soon and would like to do some co-op
I've heard it's better than judgement but not as good as the original.

Played about 3 hours last night and love it so far.
You have to go into it with the mindset that it's not just a continuation of the same storyline as the original trilogy. It's a new time, new setting, and new characters with callbacks to the original trilogy.
That being said, the gameplay is as fun as ever and it's a gorgeous game. Unreal Engine 4 is badass.

I waited until Judgment was the free gold game of the month and it was really was not bad. The campaign felt like a bunch of small horde modes stringed together but it was still fun. I'm looking forward to playing 4

I feel like Gears of a War is the epitome of linear, generic military corridor cover shooter, but I am eager to be proven wrong. This will probably be the next game I pick up.

In a sense, very true. The linear nature of the game can definitely be offputting to some people. It just doesn't bother me the way it does other people.
I would disagree however about it being "generic". Call of Duty is generic, Gears has a chainsaw attached to a machine gun. Gears is also one of the only FPS games I've played where it got me emotionally invested in the game.

Just bought it, looking for some people to do multiplayer with. I ran through the first three kind of half assed for the story but this is the first one I'm getting truly invested in.

How has the Gears of War franchise progressed since the original? I am attempting to play through the Remaster and find it awful.

If you don't like the first one, chances are you won't like the others.
The formula gets refined but it's pretty similar with each entry.
I'm shite at the multiplayer but I enjoy the horde mode and campaigns. I'll play mp on occasion if I wanna get humbled but I can rarely do well and it's fun whenever that happens.

Personally I think GOW1 and GOW1 remastered are pretty terrible (in terms of multiplayer). 2 was reasonably bad. Gears 3 and 4 are LIGHTYEARS ahead of those games in terms of functionality, balance, netcode, everything.
