Maybe my local Gamestop sucks, but they are always out of stock on the games I want. I just go across the street to the local Wal-Mart and can usually find what I was searching for.

I'm not even sure it's a local thing. I work in a town 30 miles from where I live and have the same problem there as well.

Steam saves you from having to uncomfortably converse with people much weirder than yourself

I don't go to gamestop because I don't feel like repeating myself about how I don't preorder games 20 times over.

Never had a problem at GS. When a salesperson approaches, I either tell him/her what I am looking for or just say I am browsing and it's over.

I still way prefer a physical product over digital.

Don't forget the game disc protection plan!

They're great for their used games that aren't being printed anymore (Red Dead Redemption, Yakuza 3, Star Ocean, etc). It's just hard to find "new" games that aren't just brand new.

Then again, their stock of some brand new games is bad. My local GameStop had no copies of DBZ Xenoverse as they only got in enough to fulfill preorders.

Every gamestop has moved to that now seemingly in a way to encourage people to pre-order. Cutting costs one gamer at a time.. but also cutting revenue because it's stopped my business and apparently others too

Same here. I'm not a shill for them or anything, but I've never had any of the problems/issues mentioned here. Sometimes they ask if I'm looking for a particular game. Sometimes they ask if I'm interested in pre-ordering something. Sometimes they don't say shite.

Makes me wonder if some people just can't handle human contact.

On a rare occasion there will be a game you can't find on steam that Gamestop's doc service will have. I bought balders gate II remastered through them. Aside from that I find them pretty irrelevant. Many times when I was a console player I would go to wal mart for midnight releases and have my game within minutes, and laugh at the people in line at GS on the way home.
