Then I played Dark Souls Remastered this month. Absolute masterpiece.
Glad you still felt this way about DS1 even after playing ER. DS1 will always be FromSoft's crown jewel. It, Bloodborne, and Sekiro are the holy trinity.
Elden Ring is a masterpiece in scale and scope. DS3 is a highly refined and atmospheric experience with brilliant boss design.
DS2 is just a piece of shite

Anything outside of your thread you think I should know?

why did you select to forgo the amulet on Manus?

Different strokes different folks for sure. No right answer. I personally hate games that try to be movies. When I sit down at to play a game I want to game. If I wanted dialogue and plot I'd watch Netflix.
God of War is an example of what is a universally acclaimed game but I can't stand it because they won't stfu and let me play.

I know what you're talking about and I totally get that. I'm not talking about the dialogue, per se. Just a general idea of the story. I started watching a streamer Vswed and his hitless runs, really enjoy them, and he commented once that he has absolutely no clue what is going on in these games, story wise. I related to that, and especially with Elden Ring, my experience is wrapped up in discovery and the amazing looking set pieces, but at some point I decided I had to google what was next in terms of the main progression because I felt I was just wandering around too aimlessly and was in danger of completely losing interest in the game.
I finished it, it was great, no idea what I actually did.

Reinforced club was my second choice. I’ll probably play around with both of them and see how I feel. Maybe even add in the battle axe. Not like I’m going to be hurting for souls

That makes sense. I think mentally I’m taking more of a “play as I would normally play, just SL1” type tack.
Eta: Minus pyromancy, because obviously

Staggering on a missed R1 is a little rough…

Started a DkS1 SL1 no pyro all bosses glitchless run this afternoon. Just sat down at the post-archer Anor Londo bonfire right at three hours later.
This hasn't been nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be

My sl1 run ended at Capra demon / quelag. Pyro and reinforced mace. Best of luck

I think I’ve first tried every boss thus far. Which is why I decided to shut it down for the night when I sat at O&S’s doorstep

(Mid script post script: right before hitting submit, I remembered that the Gargoyles took me at least two, but possibly three tries. Definitely didn’t first try them on this run)
Capra wasn’t bad. The dogs eat 20 poise per strike. That means when you put on the Wolf Ring (40 poise), if you put on literally any piece of armor that adds even a single point of poise, you can face tank two dog strikes without getting staggered. Still need to not be stupid at SL1, but it’s not bad.
Quelag is always a stressful fight for me when I’m handicapping myself, particularly when I have low HP. The pools of lava can easily stunlock you and her magic AoE is devastating. For me, the trick is leaning how to dodge into her sword attacks and press into her so you can get strikes in during that phase. If you’re waiting around for her lava spew attacks, the fight is going to go on too long due to her HP pool and you’ll make a mistake.

The replay-ability on these games is almost endless too.
Some bosses are easier/harder depending on your build.
Anyone else get annoyed at Elden Ring invasions? Co-op in Elden Ring is almost perfect, but the number of invasions ruin it. Most of the time it's some dude whose seriously OP and kills in two hits.
Anyway these games have spoiled me because I don't really enjoy any other games as much. These are all I play now, along with NCAA

Very common complaint I've heard, actually.

Y'all, Ornstein's teleport stab is real fricking annoying at SL1
O&S down

Nice work. You're basically done. Last real challenge is Four Kings.

Several times I got them down to less than one King's worth of HP only to catch a weirdly powerful wombo combo and get wiped out. Got frustrated so I moved on. Knocked out all of the Izalith bosses including BoC, then took out Pinwheel and Nito.
Just bought like 90 green blossoms because what the frick else am I going to do with my souls and I plan on trying again tomorrow. I'm hoping that gives me a bit more speed to make the fight less annoying.
Also, I assume Manus is going to be another real challenge

The DLC bosses, in general, are tough. I don't know why I forgot about them.
I don't think I spent much time on them though.

I’m honestly most concerned about Kalameet. His hitboxes are so fricking wonky, and I imagine most will be one hit kills.

OP I feel you on this one. I’ve gotten so addicted that I try to find other games that are similar. You should checkout:
1. Lords of the Fallen
2. Lies of P
3. Wo Long
4. Black Myth Wukong
5. Entoria (coming out this month)
6. Nioh 1 & 2
Of course Demon Souks if you haven’t yet:

My one rule is that anyone who tells me that they found Friede easy irrationally annoy me
I think it has to do with build... and experience. By the time I found Friede I had spent I'm pretty sure weeks on the Nameless King (I bought the game after the DLC had already come out) and had kinda crafted the games mechanics to a T. I didn't skip a second and went straight into the DLC - I wanna say it took me 5 or 6 tries.
I think I also lucked out and fought the Twin Princes with my parry build which helped out significantly.
P.S: Sekiro is my favorite of all the FS games, it's phenomenal and probably one of the hardest learning curves of all of them.

That's the thing about FS DLC bosses. There is a the "true" way to fight them, which is start the game over from scratch and fight your way through them at the correct level... or wait until you have already beaten the game and go into them (usually overleveled, and much more "ready"). A lot of the times I feel like the people that have the hardest time on the DLC stuff are doing it correctly, I rarely do that (Bloodborne and Elden Ring are the only ones I've conquered by starting over and doing them at the correct level)

6. Nioh 1 & 2
I love the Nioh games, but they also fall apart because of their producer. At the end of the game the Nioh games are a resource "loot" game. The "real" fans of Nioh say the game doesn't even start until NG+3... absolutely absurd. I will never play a game through 3 times to finally get to the "real" game. Because of this I have spent a lot less time on the Nioh games than FS games.

What "real" fans mean is that there's no point in trying to put together a proper build until that point. You can still enjoy the game before then, but you're basically just equipping the best weapons/armor you come across instead of trying to put together sets and/or min-maxing.
If you play Nioh 1/2 like a Souls game, you're going to have a bad time. There's even an ongoing meme in the Nioh subreddit of all the Souls players that make posts with intros like, "I'm a Souls vet and I don't understand X, Y, and Z." In order to "git gud" in the Nioh games, you need to learn the Nioh mechanics (e.g., ki pulsing) and stop playing them like a Souls game.
