I don’t know a single person who didn’t like the pumps man. That just sucks. That was like the scar back in the day. You prayed to find one. Man I’m salty

I think that assumption is incorrect. I think its based on millions of matches worth of data.
They know who wins, how they win, how often they win.
I don't want to give epic too much credit. No doubt a lot of their dev stuff is throwing shite at a wall and seeing what sticks.. but they have MASSIVE amounts of data that paints a picture. Like my boss says, the numbers don't lie.
There's a large portion of the games fanbase that are going to continue to play no matter what (me) because there's nothing else comparable right now. I wish someone high up would do an AMA to see them roast the reddit army who thinks they make up the majority of players.

Yeah the thing about this game is they change it so often it’s hard to get used to the meta. Since the beginning of season 8 they’ve vaulted the epic and legendary heavy AR, changed the infantry rifle to hitscan and put in epic and legendary variants, now vaulted the pump and put in this new shotgun. I assume the theory is like Yum said where they just want you to shoot two shotgun shots and not have to switch weapons. I wonder if smgs will even be necessary.

2 John Wick references, they added his house to Paradise and added the shotgun he'll be using in JW3 (Benelli M2 with TTI Ultimate 3gun upgrade package). I've been waiting to order one for weeks but they haven't had any 24" versions in stock

So because people USED the pump the most, people didn't like it?
Your argument makes no sense... Of course they have data, but what's the logic behind removing the gun that was clearly the most popular and widely used.
Data of who's winning with what gun has no bearing on a gun's popularity.
All this does is massively change the meta when they literally changed it back a couple of seasons ago after getting spit roasted when they nerfed the pump the first time

I haven't played yet, so I can't really say much right now but it might be a good change.
I feel like the fights get stale at times. At least changing it this way theres a little bit more strategy involved going in to fights. Can't just hope to close the gap and one pump anymore. Have to hit your shots and be more accurate.
Like every change they've made, you just have to adapt to it.

That's not what he said. He was referencing there is no alternative. It's pump or nothing. Removing the pump is so that there is a more balanced feel in the game and you don't HAVE to gravitate towards a single type of loadout.
I'm not a fan of the pump being removed but I can see why.

damn that's sick. You ever competed in 3 gun?
I thought about 2 gun awhile back but haven't even shot my stuff in a year almost.

No I know, and I will I'm sure... My complaint is they just do this with no consultation of ANYONE in the player base as far as I know.
This isn't the first monstrous meta change they've done (see: infinity sword, super nerfing pumps), I'd just want more insight on how they come to these decisions, because a lot of the time it seems to be on a whim.

No doubt would be cool to know.
I can assure you, as this is a billion dollar game, these things aren't done on a whim. They have a building full of smart people trying to maximize playability which leads to long term revenue.

3gun is pretty nonexistent in LA, i've done a few nonofficial matches with groups around laffy/BR though. Want to start going to TX to compete, so much more there. Getting into USPSA right now, handgun is my jazz

I think he was saying they vaulted the pump to make it more noob friendly. As in, little Timmy doesn’t lose to a soccer skin who ramp rushes him and dunks on him with a one-pump. Now Timmy can run two drum guns and just spray the build. I think that’s what he was getting at.

The only way to really solve this argument would be to see a distribution curve of players and the average number of elims and wins. What would that look like? Would someone with a .5 K/D ratio be in the middle? Because I think they'd be 1 standard deviation from the average. I think average is probably .3 or worse.
There are so many other factors. How many matches does the 'average' player queu in a season? does average play squads or solos?
You have the first game in history that is played from the ages of 7 to 50ish. There are so many variables going into this thing!
Posted on 5/9/19 at 10:51 am to YumYum Sauce
I thought the average player had just under a 1 K/D. I could be wrong though.
Posted on 5/9/19 at 10:57 am to txpurpleandgold
absolutely no way its that high, but it depends on what qualifies. average would have to be set at someone who plays XX number of games a week or more, I would assume?
Posted on 5/9/19 at 11:01 am to txpurpleandgold
I thought it was like a 0.92
Posted on 5/9/19 at 11:57 am to Nonetheless
Yeah if you figure 99 other people in the lobby and a few die to the storm, then an “average” player should get just a bit less than one kill a game. I believe Fortnite tracker has that data.

Apparently heavy shotgun is coming back at some point
Posted on 5/9/19 at 1:21 pm to Nonetheless
this combat shotgun has 30 damage point blank to the head. If you want to slap your opponents with a wet napkin 27 times before you can actually kill them, then this was a great update
