New trailer.

It really aims to show off the stunning beauty of the 16 bit HD 2D pixel art which already looks way better than the first trailer and it looked good.

It showcases iconic enemies, combat mechanics, exploration gameplay, Espers, and more.

I’ve mentioned I know someone who does work with SQE like QA and bug/stress tests when games get in their close to final build states + he typically gets early codes as he makes content with a somewhat modest sized channel not anything major or anything

And I can tell that you that the trailer you see right there is not a bait and switch. It looks that good, the entire time, they are showing you the near final build same he stress tested as I’ve seen it myself. Much more of it from his captured footage. It runs at a 60 FPS locked on a ps5 pro. When he booted it on a base ps5 and chose performance it didn’t lock the FPS but it was a nearly constant 60 with some slight drops for quick moments during the most pixel explosive combat moves or summons

I can’t speak to how th game plays obviously, and again you can choose to believe me on this or don’t idc my track record here when it comes to JRPGs and Atlus/SQE stuff is very high rate of accuracy.

I also posted in the Claire obscure thread weeks before launch it would win game of the year because those same friends had access to that since sandfal was super generous

All of that is to say; If you like FF6 in particular, this game is going for o be a potentially game of the year level release for you. It really is a VERY high quality game, that doesn’t just pay lip service to finally tossing us old school fans a bone (although I’m an old and new school fan) it lives and breaths it as a design ethos.

This game IS a worthy successor to the golden era of FF. It is that good.

To be clear I am speaking about every single aspect of the game from combat, to presentation, to music, to length which is going to be 25-30 hours for the main campaign alone if you choose normal difficulty and if you do all the side content as well you’re looking as 65+ hours.

I am NOT talking about the quality of the narrative as it is the one area I have absolutely no idea about in terms of how much they added to it, changed it from Brave exvius etc.

Also, the game brings back the FF tradition of having an insanely difficult endgame that is all accessible after you finish the main story

This helps soften the blow of them killing FF7 Ever Crisis (which is actually more of a faithful remake than the actual "remake").
