I hope you're right, at least it isn't taking them 5 years to make the sequels.

I wasn't super excited for this, new trailer today changed my mind, looks great. Good show from Sony today.

Great trailer. Looks 100x better than the first.

Sephiroth's VA is dogshit though. So bad

Looks huge, think they'll avoid all the backtracking and padding from the first one given the scale

Square did a pretty clever thing with Rebirth’s Twin Package. It’s FFVII Rebirth and FFVII: Remake with the Integrade DLC. It’s $69.99, just like the standalone Rebirth game, so anyone who missed out on part 1 can buy it and play them both for the price of one game.

Looks like some open world elements, i DID NOT expect that. Probably gets delayed to summer of next year but it looks like it's going to be great.

I wish JRPGs still had no voice acting. But at least you can switch to the Japanese soundtrack with subtitles.

I hope we didn't see Cid because they're saving him for one more trailer in a couple of months or so.

The wording from the developer letter leads me to believe that Vincent and possibly Cid if he is introduced will just be guest characters like Red was in part 1.

I forgot about the fat Shinra guy getting hit by a truck in OG FF7. It's been too long since I replayed it.

There’s a full extended 2 section demo coming to Tokyo game show tomorrow (I think it’s tomorrow whenever it is). Which means we are going to get to see a chunky amount of it even though not play it ourselves yet.

Also apparently Kitase said in one of those Twitter graphics they do this game will have 100 hours of stuff. I used to be one timeline purist but now I think there’s actually 3. Sephiroth s plan is to merge them.

Originally I thought it was the same concept used in the og matrix trilogy and the Dark Tower series, basically a new version starts once you get to the end. I eventually went over to the multiple timelines idea though. I'm basically where you are at the moment, we have OG, remake, and the side story of remake where a certain person seems to make it.

I know a lot of people were expecting OG FF7 with modern day graphics but I really enjoyed where they took the title...except for that fricking house. I beat that damn house first try but as much as I paused I bet that I was in that fight for almost 45 minutes.

Any of you play the updated Crisis Core that came out a couple of years ago? I never played the original. As I understand it, the updated one stays faithful to the original gameplay wise other than maybe some small QoL improvements. Does it hold up after all of these years or does the gameplay show it's age?

Yup. I think it’s pretty safe to say there are three timelines. Much eludes to this but the box art for rebirth alone is so telling if you haven’t seen it go look at it with Sephiroth positioned in the middle under a red sky and cloud to his left looking away under a dark blue almost black sky and Zach to his right under a more clear blue sky. There are three timelines

1) The original 1997 games events
2) The timeline we played out in FF7 remake
3) Whatever timeline spawns with Zach living and that third cloud (really second cloud for our purposes because I don’t think the OG will given to much explicit elaboration it’ll be taken as a known given)

I’m very confident Sephiroth is attempting to merge these timelines and I don’t think it’s an entirely evil reason either. That’s not to say it’s good or for really anyone’s benefit but himself just that he isn’t out to kill the entire planet. I think this sets up to have the Cloud we played in Remake and that timeline become a villain who either needs to be killed or brought back, eluded by his being under a dark almost black sky looking disheveled and uncertain.

You mean the crisis core they didn2 years ago Christmas? I played it when they released it. They made the gameplay better but that isn’t really saying much since the gameplay was always absolutely atrocious. Crisis core is a game you play for the story and anyone invested in remake rebirth and part 3 absolutely must play crisis core, this is obvious with a huge focus on Zach but also Yuffies DLC introducing the concept of deep ground and Genesis

I disagree. I think this game is going to be absolutely fricking massive. They have been building it for how long? Let’s say 5 years. Much of the groundwork was already laid for them or was being laid simultaneously while they were in early development concept phases all by remake part 1. It’s the first ps5 game I’m aware of requiring 2 discs worth. Now I haven’t seen anywhere, and maybe someone can chime in and correct this if im wrong, but if that will be old school ps1 insert 2nd disc or like Red Dead 2 where one is just a simple install disc and one runs the game. Even if it’s the latter it still allows a massive game. I think the game is going all of the way to the northern crater with all that entails including all the playable characters.

Cid is the one most likely to get that treatment. Vincent is absolutely way too pivotal to the entire plot of FF7s main game and entire compilation which we know is all part of this to not be introduced into this game in a big way. We’ve seen genesis and deep ground introduced, who is the omega to his chaos in dirge and really the culmination of this whole thing. Vincent knows way too much, he’s way too tied into almost all of the big bad guys, he can’t just be left to rot. It was a mistake in the OG to even allow that to be a possibility I seriously doubt they make it twice.

Its one of the main things i hate about some of them. I start getting bored as frick reading everything and listening to like the ........ sound.

Trying to think what game was like this other than pokemon that i just gave up on because it was lame as frick.

Like dragon quest XI has voice acting and i love that game.
