Yes. My wife is a head of me and said last night that a sidequest gave her more potion storage.

Question from someone who has only played the demo - does best weapon or extra inventory/potion slots even matter? Everyone says the game is too easy. Unless you plan on running through NG+ and get to keep gear, then I understand. But if you plan on one and done'ing just for the story and can beat it without the side quest benefits, then do they even matter?

I just finished the game about 30 minutes ago and the extra potions, extra potion efficiency, and BiS gear was unnecessary for me. There were only a handful of fights that I used multiple potions and it was never even a third of what I had available. However I could see it being useful for some.

I'm about 20 hours into the game and although I do think it's a really good game, this just isn't Final Fantasy to me... A big part of FF games for me has always been creating a balanced party to handle any type of situation... Until this point, there hasn't even been the concept of a party, you're just a one-man killing machine.

The game feels like they took pieces of Monster Hunter, Dark Souls/Elden Ring, and The Witcher and just threw them into a blender and this is what came out.

Again, I think the game is great and the story is interesting enough. I just feel like if you take out a couple of chocobos and moogles, this game could take place in any universe.

This is sad to learn. I feel the same way about Final Fantasy. Large cast of characters letting you customize your adventure throughout. Feels like FF games have increasingly gone to forcing certain people into your parties at certain times over the years and that is quite annoying.

FF6 was my favorite with its 14 characters that you would gather from all over the world and hang out on your airship.

Agreed, FF6 was probably the pinnacle of the series in terms of playable customizable characters and their backstories. But even 15 with the shift to action combat still had a party that leveled up and travelled with you and had their own backstories. They completely abandoned that in this series for some reason.

Just got through the first really really big story moment (in a new location now, you'll know what I'm talking about when you get there). About 15hrs in

Game just keeps getting better. The major story beats are all incredibly well written and performed, the big spectacle moments all have me smiling throughout. The main boss fights have all been great so far.

The complaints that it's not a "true" FF game are totally valid and legitimate, but this is a really great game in its own right. So impressed so far

Also the motion blur patch dropped tonight. Set that bitch to 0 and enjoy

Just beat it

one of the best games i've played in a long time. What an enjoyable (if linear) ARPG. I adored the Kaiju fights.

Sticking with me long afterwards like Mass Effect did.

Kinda sad that I won't get to experience it for the 'first time' again. Like Mass Effect 1-3 you can never have that magical first playthrough again. And praise the lord I was able to avoid most spoilers despite Youtube trying to throw them at me constantly.

I hope they make an FFXVI-2 because its an instant buy for me.

thats all i got. you guys enjoy yourselves. Next up: Starfield!

In this age of nearly every game being a letdown, this game is such a breath of fresh air. Wasn't on my radar at all until the demo. Just an amazing experience so far

Out of curiosity, what do FF fans generally consider the last "true" game in the series? 12?

I would say 12... Although the combat system in that was wayyy different from previous FF games, I enjoy that kind of experimentation with new gameplay elements, and it still felt like a Final Fantasy game. I did not feel that with 15 or 16. 14 is pretty good but since it's an MMO I don't know if it'd qualify as a "real" FF game.

No clue, I'm not an FF purist. X is my favorite and apparently that's the one where people really started to hate because it was linear compared to the previous ones (at least for the first half). The only ones I've really played VII, VIII, and X (For nostalgia weight purposes, X was my first and was played as a kid. VII and VIII were played as an adult).

I own all the games from 1-10 and am looking foward to playing VI and IX the most since those seem to be considered the "best," but I'll be shocked if anything tops X for me

I've dabbled in all the FF but never got too deep in them, probably playing XIII the most (the horror) because I probably enjoyed the paradigm system the most out of all the games.

That being said, for me personally all they need to do is get the music right and I'll consider it a true FF game

I've played every FF game since the first one and beaten 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, and 15 (getting close on 16 also). Without question even after playing all of them, X is my favorite and I doubt any new ones will ever top it based on the direction the series is going. 6 is second place for me but in my opinion it still can't top 10.

Maybe it was at a time where the craft wasn't as refined, but I had a hard time getting over how bad some of the voice acting was in X. Particularly Wakka

This is one thing I definitely think they nailed in 16. The music is really good. Kinda has that FFX vibe with the laid-back guitar music.

I can't argue with this. Although X is my favorite of the series, the voice acting was probably the weakest part of that game.

My son and I still laugh at the "HA HA HA HAAAA!!" scene every time we think of it.

yeah they were hiring mfs off the street to do voice work back then, and voice direction in particular was really lacking. Totally different ballgame now.

Voice work in XVI is great across the board, such a nice surprise

Just finished up in Three Reeds. That whole section definitely felt like ff12 and I thought is the best looking area so far. I find myself using the the same combos over and over again and it gets boring, maybe I need to hit the training arena and try some new stuff. The Ifrit vs Garuda Eikon battle was unreal, they really went all out for the cinematics in this one
