I work in the industry and the simple fact of the matter is that, at the moment, it's a really sophisticated regurgitation machine.
The first AI games will either be released as is and get a TON of negative reviews when people easily point out that "Quest X" is just "Quest Y" almost verbatim from another game, or will need to employ 3-4 times the number of QA people to review it.
AI still doesn't produce anything original.

Multiple summons on the hotbar. Heavy armor on a caster with shitty endurance. Three completely different weapons slotted. Two shields equipped. The soreseal.

The only short term uses I can see for AI in gaming is for art asset creation and world-reactive NPC dialogue. Everything else still feels like a very long way off.

AI still has problems making proper human hands, I saw some AI image of Trump recently and it gave him raptor claw hands.
