This is the first time I'm trying to do a FromSoft game completely blind.

I go into all of them blind, my first experience was Bloodborne (and my favorite) then I went back and played them all starting with DeS on PS3.

You are in for a treat, these games played blind invoke that sense of wonder I felt as a kid, not many games can still do that at my age.

FromSoft has taken over my long time favorite developer spot from Square and Elden is going to be their magnum opus it's looking like.

Curious how the open world changes the entire dynamic of the souls formula (in the same way BB and Sekiro did in their own ways)

Watched a few reviews and they're all saying it's Game of the year and some saying game of the decade. This is probably the most excited I've ever been for a game.

Thanks man.

Yeah patterns don’t bother me at all, I enjoy that. I guess a super intricate control scheme would more so.

Tbh Elden Ring is in all likelihood to be their most accessible title yet to a wider audience at large which makes sense on a progression matrix. The beauty lost in that for so many people however which will absolutely cheapens and disservice your love for the game; is knowing and seeing everywhere how it is the definitive refined experience culminating in years of blood and sweat and carving out w brand new genre they alone are capable of truly producing at the quality come to know. You’ll miss the life Blood of dark souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro running throughout like it’s blood in it’s veins like leaving what failed on the cutting room floor:

So yes all that to say it’s b my all intents a spiritual successor to dark souls written by a man whose famous for subversion and turning over the table of classic fantasy. And yes the pull to play it’s almost unbearably strong I’d imagine. But you’d be doing yourself dirty. Using a guide DS 1-3 and especially Bloodborne are not long games, I could give or take Sekiro.

You will probably be fine, although it's tough to say without the game having been released.

I'm very far from a skilled gamer, but I've never found the areas between bosses to be as over-the-top difficult as their reputation suggests. Bosses are another story though...for me, at least.

I'm leaning toward vagabond right now. Seems to fit my preferred play style the best.

Gonna go with Prisoner. I am usually a Dex build type of guy on DS games but I definitely want the magic aspect too and the Prisoner seems to be a Dex/Int char

I'm actually the opposite (have only played Demon Souls remake and Dark Souls remastered in full playthroughs, and am at Father Garciano in Bloodborne).

I've found the bosses to generally be easier to get through with a small handful of exceptions. I think part of my issue is that I would struggle so much getting through an area that I'd end up collecting a shite ton of souls and would end up leveling up and upgrading weapons in order to get through it. By the time I reached many of the bosses I was way overpowered lol

Dex builds, katanas, and bow and arrows are my shite so Samarai will be my first play through. The confessor looks super interesting as well and I’ll either do somewhat duel play throughs between the two starting with a hood bit into Samarai first but a battle mage class in this game is appealing too.

Bloodborne opens up into Yarhnam on the night of the hunt is such a beautiful example of this lol. That first level is one of the best put together game design levels of all time in all respects. It teaches you what you need to know and then you get to the pyre burning gathering maybe 10 min into navigation of it and it’s such a holy frickkng shite my arse is about to get blasted moment. Overcoming that level set up through skill, careful manipulation of enemies to splinter them off, brute force or anything else all gives you the confidence you need and skills to beat the entire game and it’s only 5 min into the first level.

I wasn't too hyped on Elden Ring, but these reviews scores have pushed from "play sometime in the Summer" to playing asap.

Not only is this game getting great reviews, 10\10 masterpiece from IGN, but it apparently runs great even on PS4 and Xbox 1.

I didnt plan on getting this and ive never played a Dark Souls game. And i know hardly anything on this one. But hearing the hype makes me want to buy it. Im in a position where i could sink some time into a game.

But i have PS4 and Xbox1. So was worried about how it would play. If word is its good to go then im sure ill pull the trigger.

Samurai most likely. But I’m curious how the magic builds are in this game.

Multiple outlets have called this game a masterpiece. I’ve never played Bloodborne or none of the Dark Souls but I’ll be buying this.

I will be doing something with a shield. Shields have their uses in all the souls games, and I didn't play the network test, but this sounded like the first game where a shield is truly thought of as something you can build characters around. Maybe a samurai, I haven't played a solid Dex build in awhile.

I'm also tempted to do something with powerstancing, I loved it in DS2.

Wait, Series S performance mode is better than Series X?

Have resolutions been posted to go with FPS?
