Nowhere near willing to say that EA is one of the better SP game creators of 2023. I will say though, that it was a pants on head moment from them when they declared the age of multiplayers.

I mean I suppose I cant say youre wrong because it is a subjective threshold at the end of the day but dead space remake and Jedi survivor will without doubt be top 10 AAA games this year.

Regardless I am not sucking EAs cock. I dislike them. I just am willing to recognize when I see a person or company doing better and will give props if a company earns it. If anything I suck off SQE but I try not to.

I’m probably in the minority, but I would much rather a good single player game over a game where I am forced to play with other people.

Based on game sales figures, I would say we are in the minority, but a very, very sizable minority. Just pulling numbers out of my arse, but maybe 60/40 people who primarily play multiplayer versus people who primarily play single player. At least if you exclude mobile gaming, which is a completely separate market.

That's how I prefer my games. I don't need other people, especially strangers to "help make the game better". frick that..

I hate games that are made to be played by 20 others at the same time. Save that shite for the call of duty crowd.

Mindless running around shooting...great fricking concept.

It is my observation and belief that way more of that 60 will also play single player games than that 40 has interest in Multiplayer but just a guess. I mean how many online games does capcom run? No idea but they are just blowing the door off its hinges in terms of revenue growth year over year with this being the like 6th year in a row they have hit an all time new high. All of their big IPs are heavy single player focused ish but do prioritize what makes their company special and what people want from a capcom game.

Committing to putting out high quality AAA single player adventures at the best and most reasonable pace you can has room to make so much fricking money without you being a scummy pedo gambler enabler or employing more psych guys than devs.

I pretty much despise forced online games or stuff like CoD multiplayer. Only multiplayer I usually don’t mind and actually support is the kind FromSoft uses in their games. Unless it’s something that has couch co up which needs to be brought back.

This.

I hate MMO stuff because you either give your life to it or you are constantly getting your arse whipped.

I’m more interested in couch co op or party games along the lines of Jackbox than something with required online multiplayer elements.

I had my MMO phase. To your comment though it’s one of many reasons FF14 took over that space, meaning it doesn’t even truly play like a MMO unless you want to and how much you want it to. It’s such a strange style of MMO but can mostly also be managed as a single player experience of sorts.

Well, I think it just doesn't fit EA's loot box/pay-to-win business model to develop great single player games.

Rock Star treats its players better and that's saying something. I know that the "single player" demographic gets older every year. It is what it is.

(As a kid, Microprose and EA were THE game publishers. I know to some of you youngsters out there, I might as well be talking about the 19th Century or "the olden times." )

But EA is actually putting out pretty great single player games. Multiple or even 3 or more every year since 2018. Only ones I’d say off the top of my head doing it objectively better are FromSoft (not totally single player), Capcom, Maybe Square Enix but that is leaning heavy on the FF15 DLCs and FF7 remake. Insomnia made one great game. EA has put out two great to amazing games this year alone.
