Destiny 2 - Shadowkeep and Bungie changes since going soloPosted by Brettesaurus Rex

Surprised to not see anything on this on the board yet. This video sums up pretty well where they're wanting to go with everything.

Free to play entry point for year 1 content.
Cross platform saves
Shadowkeep coming in September
I just hopped back on and started playing the season of opulence and it's been pretty fun as well. The new "raid" has matchmaking and has a prison of elders feel to it.

I might get back into it. Is it too cumbersome to get back to "playable" if I haven't played in a year?

It isn't. There's a ton of content if you got the annual pass.
I haven't played in almost six months but am itching to check out the new season. I'm hoping the split from Activision allows them to make the game they want.
So far, I like what I'm seeing from Bungie.

Not at all. I've been on RDR2 and HZD for awhile and just got back in this week. Just after the first few new quests you can get up to 690 and get into the Menagerie (new "raid"). I was pretty under powered because the enemies top out at 740 in some spots but still able to make it to the end.
Also, I'm pretty stoked about going back to the moon. As far back as Vanilla destiny I remember roaming around there.

The beauty of the Menagerie is in there is no failure unless you quit.
Raid light mechanics with matchmaking. No wipes. No failure. Always progressing. Which is nice for people using the intro quest for 690 gear.

Season of Opulence is fantastic

It's got a very House of Wolves feel to me as far as the way everything is set up with the Menagerie.
I'm pretty stoked to get to the new raid, but gotta make it up to 740 it looks like.

I'm having a blast doing the Menagerie, if this is what raids are like I might have to do one of the guided ones.
One question, I have a very loud high pitch whine in my ear that forces me focus on what someone is saying in order to understand them, which gets me killed if I'm playing. Do you have to wear a headset to do a raid?

You don't need it for the menagerie. But for any full blown raid you pay have to. It's not impossible without it but it makes things unnecessarily difficult if you're not communicating. This coming from someone who's never really enjoyed the chat part of any games.

You need it due to the requirements of raid encounters. Without dropping a word salad. If you look up a guide on the encounters it would explain why.
Everyone has a role to play in the encounter and you must move/cordinate with other teamemebers

Well, I guess I'll have to give it another shot. Been over a year since I played

I’m glad to see things have possibly changed since the split. Unfortunately, every person I know of who bought the game has no desire to ever play it again regardless of this news.

The current endgame basically removes all rng..put in the rune recipe you want and get the gun/armor type you want

That's happened to me off and on at some point ask the way back since vanilla destiny
Play nonstop for a couple months, get burned out, ask myself if I want to keep spending money on this.
New trailer comes out, get hype, preorder.
Getting back into season of opulence and looking ahead to Shadowfall has fallen right into my usual schedule
