re: Dark Souls Remastered

Every time I play dark souls, I get to a certain point and just quit not sure why.
This time around the game completely gripped me, and I got farther than I have, and I can't put it down. I just finished blight town and Quelaag and I felt like blight town especially was overhyped in terms of difficulty. It wasn't easy by any means, but it wasn't nearly as back breaking as many have said.

Good stuff. I was the same way. Once I committed to it, I couldn't put it down. I played Souls games exclusively for a solid year and a half.
Imo there's not a better series out there.

I don’t think blight town is hyped as overly difficult as much as just a giant pain in the arse.
In the end I opted not to get the remaster. Didn’t see the point in paying another $40 for a game that hasn’t really changed much and I’ve beaten multiple times already. Maybe if there were changes but more frames and better coop wasn’t enough to draw me back in to pay for a 7 old year game that I already own

This. It's just a giant Pita that killed the game flow for me.
I'm biased since I started with 3 but I still think that's the best game. And of course it looks the best too.

Wow, Dark Souls 1 is better than BB? I really enjoyed BB so I guess I should give this a try.

I think I like the setting of DS1 more, but BB is easier to play as far as controls.

They are 1A and 1B. Dark Souls was my first so I'm a bit biased, but it has more varied environments, some incredible hidden lore, and more bosses (though a couple of the endgame bosses are lazy due to time and budget constraints). It also has some of the best world design ever, which no Soulsborne game has been able to match. BB's world design is also excellent, but nothing compares to the elation you get from opening a shortcut in DS1. I'm a huge sucker for the cosmic horror in BB too, which may be more your thing rather than the dark fantasy setting of DS.
DS1 and BB are both in my Top 10 all time. DS3 is a very good game. DS2 was made by FromSoft's B Team while the A Team was working on BB + the initial director was let go and someone had to cover his tracks, so it's markedly worse.

I really enjoyed BB atmosphere but I'm sure a dark fantasy atmosphere will be fine. Not really picky about things like that as long as the story/game is great. I might as well pick this up since it's only $40 and I never played it. You didn't steer me wrong with BB.

word, you will like it. it's much slower than BB (and it's the slowest in the series) so you will need some time to adjust. lots of hidden stuff as well, which is a blast to find
ill run w you

Gwyndolin blew my mind
such a huge piece of lore, completely hidden. No idea how you'd find that without help or dumb luck.
Ash Lake I can reasonably understand finding on your own. Not Gwyndolin though.
I purchased but haven't jumped in. need to have my mind right to re-learn controls for KB/M

I like DS3 best, it's my first DS so I'm biased too. However I liked DS2. I think 2 would have been significantly better if it didn't lower your health bar every time you die.

Went ahead and started last night. So far I am digging it. It is funny how I had to tell myself to calm down and remember to grind a little bit before moving forward. I had to get back in the Bloodborne way of thinking again. Tried getting past the boss on the bridge (Taurus Demon) but the servers went down for maintenance last night from 8-10.

I need to get back on this. Stopped after ringing the first bell.

As with BB, I have no idea what anything does. I sit at a campsite and see kindle and dehumanizing or whatever and have zero clue what I am supposed to do. That's not a negative though but I do refrain from looking online.
