I have all of three trophies. 90% of my time has been exploring and dying.

Forgot just how much I loved this game, and how fun it is to explore... You know, until you accidentally wander into an area you shouldn't be and get wrecked

The reviews on Steam are trashing the remaster a bit. Basically, that it's lazy as frick and didn't fix any of the problems from the original game that had to be patched up by modders, and that it's not even close to worth the money they are asking for it. People are further pissed that the original game has been removed from steam

The level design in this game is what makes one of the GOATS

I started with DS3 and going back in the series wasn't fun. DS1 was pretty meh to me. I downloaded the remaster but doubt I'll play it any time soon.

For reasons I'm sure your can figure out, I find it hilarious that the Switch version is delayed.

It's $40 for a remaster (better textures & lighting) and not a remake. If they had cleaned up some bugs it may have broken other parts of the game and people would complain.

If they bought the Prepare To Die edition then the Remaster was only $20. FROM didn't have to give previous owners a generous 50% discount. If they don't like the Remaster they can still download & play the old version.

Any remaster is a balancing act. How can they maintain the feel of the original without introducing unintended consequences? This is more of a challenge to games like DS that have cult-like followings.

Bioshock Remastered was free for those who already owned the base game and is currently $19.99 on Steam for the Remaster *and* the original game.

The Skyrim Remaster was also free through Steam for those who already owned the game.

So I guess I'm not terribly impressed by a company that "gives a 50% discount" off of a $40 remaster and charges current owners $20. Oh, and then pulls the original game down from Steam so if someone wants to buy the game, it's $40.

Dark Souls has been on my wishlist for a while, but this puts a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

Then I guess you'll have to wait for a sale or buy the remastered version.

Duh?

Doesn’t mean it’s not something I’m going to hold against the company when considering future purchases.
