The adventures of the rogue drow Drizzt Do’Urden started back in 1988. The dark elf has gone on to become one of the most beloved Dungeons & Dragons characters, featured in more than 30 novels, but he and the iconic Companions of the Hall have never starred in a video game of their own.

The other way Tuque wants to bring out the action is by removing the top-downish isometric perspective and using a third-person presentation instead. “I want to make people be a part of Icewind Dale and really witness firsthand how harsh the world is, how bad-arse the monsters are, and [that] it’s not an easy place to survive,” Hattem said.

Dark Alliance joins Baldur’s Gate III as triple-A game projects Wizards of the Coast has announced this year.
BGIII announced as well.

This sounds cool.
The re-releases of the original BG and BG2, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, etc. on XB1 is also cool.
The fact that these re-releases of decades-old games cost as much as new games just being released today is not fricking cool.

On PC you can pick them up fairly cheap on GOG.

Any relation to the original Dark Alliance on PS2? That game was awesome.

Called Dark Alliance, it’s a “spiritual successor” to the PlayStation 2-era Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance games.

The sequel wasn't as good because Snowblind Studios made Champions of Norrath instead.

I will definitely be checking that out. I loved getting Drizzt to help out in BG2. Honestly, at this point, I’ll pay for anything DnD.

That and Dark Alliance have aged really well since they never drop below 60 FPS. Play them at 1080p on PCSX2.

woah, that fighting was wonky as hell.

Maybe my PS2 and/or disk is faulty, but mine drops below 60 frequently.
Also the loot system is annoying. 95% of loot is low level trash.

Pcsx2 is an emulator.
Is runs better on modern PCs than on ps2

I understand that, but that's not exactly what he said.

I hate that fricking POV camera facing the character as they run. I can think of only once or twice in everything I've ever seen it used in where it actually works.
Aside from that, I like the idea of a Drizzt game and I like the idea that they consulted Salvatore on it. I'm going to reserve judgement on the game until after I can see some actual gameplay footage.
