So we all know how the games ended even before Ed O'Bannon won the lawsuit. That being said, what is the best combination of college basketball game and system for quality and price? I'd need to get the system too as I dont have a gaming computer, so looking best bang for my buck to play college basketball?

Thanks!

All college basketball games were incredibly basic and similar, whether it was EA or 2K before they went away.

So just get a PS3 and choose the last version of either of those two.

College hoops 2K8 is pretty good. The recruiting is kind of confusing, but its a nice playing game

2K8 has my favorite dynasty mode of all time. You could start recruiting MFs as freshmen in high school.

Some of the gameplay hasn't aged so well, but that's the nature of the beast when it comes to a 25-year-old game I suppose.

2k8 is the best all around experience. I still play it today.

I really wish I could just fire up 2K8 in my PS5 with the improved load screen times. Don’t even need the better graphics. I know about the emulators and all that and have done it with NCAA football but just want to casually play it in my old age with minimal effort. It was a great game with the deepest dynasty/recruiting mode I can remember, you were recruiting multiple classes back in high school

NCAA Basketball 10 has a different presentation and commentary team depending on what channel the game is played on which I always thought was really cool. I've never played it though. Bought it once at Gamestop, but the game did not work.

for you PC players, this game is now on RPCS3 and has a "Revamped" mod similar to NCAA Football.

Man, I had a college basketball game for PS3 years ago and that was the best thing ever. I can't remember what it was for the life of me. But I remember recruiting kids, and that was legitimately exciting.

2k8 has the better gameplay/dynasty/extra modes. EA NCAA Basketball 10 is more modern and has always lagged behind 2k in terms of gameplay.

If you’ve played modern titles the different between games as far as actual gameplay is about the same. 2k is heavily animation driven and has a smoother feel whereas EA’s is pretty stiff feeling. I don’t care for the defense on that game, but it has the updated 3 pt line, slightly better graphics (not enough to tilt your decision), updated uniforms, etc.

They had a mod similar to NCAA Football Revamped in the works but last I checked, the project was dead. That was a couple years ago though, so maybe it’s been revived.

If you’re not interested in an in-depth dynasty with recruiting and would be more interested in a Round of 32 style tournament or a short season with 32 college teams, 2k(whatever year) has community creations where you can download teams other people made. It requires quite a bit of time to set up but it’s pretty fun to mess around with.
