Two different types of game if you ask. If you want that quick fix aoe 2 is the way to go. If you want that deep dive and put hours or days in one game go civ
That answered exactly what I needed. AOE 2 is awesome but does not last long, unless you play the computer and never attack

My first Emperor difficulty win was with Poland. It involved nuking Washington as he was moving spaceship parts to his capital

This thread is making me want to fire up some civ tonight

Whenever I'm wfh I play too much civ.
One week there were 3 of us that played 3 games in 3 straight workdays

Yeah. I've played way too much while wfh.
Some other fun civs I like
Aztecs - every kill giving culture can snowball like crazy.
Carthage - free harbors leads to crazy gold if you up for a wide domination game.
Ottomans - jannisaries come around the time I'm looking to conquer.
Austria - buying a CS late game to Airport in your army to attack a pesky rival provides a lot of flexibility
Celtics - guaranteed religion again

Ehhh with the expansions I'd probably agree but I like 5 better overall
The expansion that added the Maori was a game changer for me.

I agree. Anyone tried the secret societies mode yet?

The amount of gold you can pump out as Venice is pretty unbelievable

They are probably the easiest civ to play with against AIs since AIs are dumb and don't deal with your trade routes or embargo in the world congress, so you can just farm gold and wonders.
They are doo doo playing against humans

Yeah. Another good one is Moracco for dry climates. Adding food and production (I think? It’s been a while) to desert tiles gives them a very niche land grab since no one wants where they are.

I haven't had the chance to play civ 5 or 6 since I never have time, but back in the day I played Civ 3 and Civ 4 a lot. I always had great success with India (Ghandi). How are they in the newer games?

Is a bitch in 5. Along with Siam. I rush them first if I'm even remotely close

Ghandi might be the worst CPU civ. He is so easy to take out since he has no military presence at all

As a noob who has never played a civ game, should I go 5 or 6? Which would be more accessible for someone who has no idea what they are doing (literally have never even seen 5 minutes of Civ gameplay)?

Sounds like six is for you.
Posted on 7/27/20 at 6:51 pm to jefforize
Ok, bought the deluxe addition of 6 plus the two expansions.
I'll fire it up tonight without any preparation. Is there a tutorial or do I just jump right in?
