Character creation is always the “first boss fight” in these games

Is Cyric an option? A chaotic evil, homicidal Paladin would be a wild play.

The twitch integration for this game is pretty cool.
Displays party members, gear, available spells etc.

I've been letting it download in the background while I'm working remotely. VPN is probably slowing down the progress, but about 70% as of now.

I never knew these were turn based. Just thought they were more similar to Diablo.

BG2 was similar to Diablo, back in 2002

Longsword + shield. Dump INT and WIS. Focus on CHA for spells, STR for damage/hit, CON for hit points.
If they ever add hexblade warlock, that will change the whole deal. Warlock and sorcerer are good MC for pallys because they all cast with CHA.
Bard/Paly is also a good combo. Lots of spell slots, and depending on the available schools they can work really well in tandem.

seems Drow are the most popular class based on a survey i saw. I am likely choosing Drow as well.
You mean race, I presume?

Totally forgot about the orc sex scene I just busted in on. This game is hilarious.

I had a potion of Animal Speaking when I encountered Timber (the squirrel) this time. The exchange was funny, after some Bardic intimidation the squirrel agreed to let me stay but only as long as I didn't try to go up into her trees.
This time around I ran into Wither.
A few things I've noticed from the pre-launch version:
-More loot items (in chests, on corpses, etc).
-More things to get loot from (more corpses, more vegetation, more books, etc.)
-Good items from merchants (at least the halfling in the druid grove) cost far less.
-When selling you have to actually click the scales in order to get the merchant to offer gold for your goods. If you just hit Barter first, you've just given away whatever you had in your offer window (how very charitable of you lol).
-An option to just go to the camp to swap party members without having to spend the night.
-Saving throws seem to be a little tougher, at least until you get a level or two up.
-Bards miss their enemies more than Barbarians do
-I found the "genitals" option in character creation to be... bizarre. You can choose which junk you're sporting (penis or vagina) and then choose pubic hair density. Seriously... wtf? They add this but not hexadecimal/color wheels for hair, skin and/or eyes?
-Actual body sizes to choose from (although there aren't many and I would prefer a slider rather than something static).
-A bit more depth in hair/eye color, scars, piercings and makeup. The colors are locked into a palette, I would have liked a color wheel with hexadecimal entry for both iris colors and eyeball colors (current setup has some of the colors with white eyeball colors and others with black eyeball colors). Maybe even a slider for color intensity (at least on the irises)?
-Body models are static. No altering face shapes (eye tilt, ear size, cheekbones, etc).
-Very few voice-type options, at least for my Half-Elf.
-What's up with the Guardian? No, don't tell me. I want to be surprised.
-Party members blocking each other is annoying but I guess it just makes sense from a physics standpoint. It's something you have to take into account when fighting in small, enclosed areas.
-When the camera pans it can dissipate walls and such in order to allow for better targeting and movement.
Fun combat stuff:
-I destroyed a barrel of oil during a fight in a dungeon. Some enemies stepped in it and when I fireballed one, the fire spread to all the ones standing in the oil (and the ground burned). I still haven't frozen a pool of blood yet (but I did manage to shove a bugbear down).
-Buffing before a fight (or even right at the beginning, instead of just charging into the battle) can make a world of difference.

I just started playing around with it while watching someone stream and it's really awesome! I wish more games did this sort of thing.
