Really? Good to know. I was looking at buying a game because I'm going to be laid up fir a few days. Guess I might look at Clair Obscur or Baldur's Gate.

the actual game is fine. it's the performance issues right now. also if you're between those two get baldur's gate

Been playing the frick out of it

gameplay and storyline are more than fine, their fantastic.
BUT it needs a patch or two for performance and certainly some clean up work on the UI. Hopefully they get that sorted quickly before it turns fans off.

I got it an have played around the starting area til I'm like a level 10. Need someone to play with, more fun than playing alone

Agree with you. Trying to talk my friends into getting it. It's still fun, but something feels off for me. I am not a fan of the UI at all, really enjoyed how BL3 presented the weapons (both on ground and in menus). I'm enjoying that some fights are more difficult in general - hacking the propaganda machine was a little tough.

Got through my solo playthrough. Exo Soldier with a turret build.
The open world concept is fine. I think it probably stifled the level and enemy diversity somewhat, but the gameplay was pretty great. I just couldn't shake the fact that I was fighting the same 2 or 3 mobs the entire time. order, ripper, local wildlife. Could have used an extra faction/enemy type or two.
The story was just okay and I feel like they fumbled the Timekeeper especially as you learn more about him. Nothing is going to top the cringe factor of the streamer kids from BL3, but the timekeeper left very little impression whatsoever. Fortunately, I really don't care much about the plot in these games, so no real big loss. I enjoyed BL3 perfectly fine for being cringey as it was and this was definitely more grounded, but still pretty meh from a storytelling standpoint.
I was playing on a pretty solid PC so the performance issues did not impact me too much.
I'm sure I'll pick it up periodically to do DLC and maybe some endgame grinding, but I can see myself focusing on other stuff for a while. I could be down to coop since it seems like the level difficulty scales to each player which prevents it from being a cakewalk or from ruining lower level player's experience, so could drop in for a few rando matchmaking sessions.
I will strongly consider rolling a different character when the first dlc drops. It's supposed to come with a new vault hunter, so I suppose it will depend on who is announced, but I wouldn't mind trying a siren.
And if you read all this horseshite, have some gold keys:

I got a BL4 Steam code for free. Is it worth redeeming or should I sell it?
Posted on 9/22/25 at 1:27 pm to Carson123987
I enjoyed it for what it is. If you got a code for it, why the hell not?
However, if you feel like the formula is worn thin and you were completely and utterly repulsed by BL3, maybe the money could be used elsewhere.
Total judgment call on your end.

I hated 3 but so many reviews said they course corrected here

Loving it so far. Runs solid on my Series X.
Have always been a solo gamer. Running a Vex Dead Ringer build and have not had any problems playing on solo (lvl 20). I am not a big story guy in games, gameplay is most important. Which is I had no issues with BL3, since the gunplay was improved. I like the majority of the gameplay/traversal additions. Not a fan of the inventory system and having to customize it to guns by type or level every single time. Unless I am missing a setting to make it permanent.

Having Vex Dead Ringer really helps with this since you are limited to a confined space. The minions take the heat off you by placing them where the enemies spawn. I never use grenades or knives for the ordinance spot. There are some rocket launchers that have six misses that respawn every 25 seconds. Use this to clear out badasses and turrets.

6 Golden keys dropped yesterday. Probably expires at the end of the day as they only last 48 hours.

Really been enjoying this game. Dialogue isn’t as good as 2, but I’ve still been playing every chance I get. As someone who 100% completed 1 and 2 but put 3 down pretty quick, this was a huge step in the right direction for the franchise.

I agree. The story in 3 sucked but the gameplay was still really good to me. This has both and actually did multiplayer for the first time on any BL and it was fun. It's a good predicament to have choosing between this, Yotei, and Helldivers. Good gaming time for me.

good to hear that the game seems to be a worthy predecessor.
I will for sure pick it up at some point in the next few years. Borderlands 2 really was a great looter shooter

I think someone mentioned this above, but my only real gripes would be that the inventory system is a little frustrating. The other is that I bought this on console (didn’t want to deal with glitches people had talked about in PC version) and it uses a cursor in menus like the PC version which is a little annoying. Those are pretty minor things though. Gameplay is top notch.
