Man, I brought my kids to the dentist today and they had TNMNT the 4-player arcade game. It is awful. Just felt repetitive after about 90 seconds. Growing up it seemed like it was the best arcade game
I also happened to get the ios version of Lunar, the silver star story, and it is pretty great

I played an emulator version of Nintendo World Cup. I remember loving the game as a kid where you could do the special bicycle kick for each team to unlock a super shot. Man, it was really terrible to play when I picked it back up. My wife and kids were out for the evening, and I thought I would play that while they were out. It lasted about 10 minutes.

A bunch.
Pretty much every Mario game does.
Most of the classic SNES games do, such as DK and Zelda.
Sonic the Hedghog
RBI Baseball
Goal
A whole host of N64 games.

The entire og resident evil trilogy are all still fricking amazing games. Just plop in the gamecube remake of 1 instead of the original 1 (that game is the standard bearer for how remakes should be still to this day).
I love code veronica as well but most hate it. Most probably played the original release of it which was very rough. Later when it came to ps2 as Veronica X is was a much smoother game

Every Legend of Zelda game holds up.
Every Mario game.
Warsong (or Langrisser) is a personal favorite of mine to pick up every few years and beat again.

I LOVED this game. Sad to hear it doesn't hold up.

Parasite eve 1 and to a lesser degree 2 also still hold up very well.
That IP is so fricking cool and SQE just cant manage to use it even though the author of the book has offered to re sell them the rights to

I've never played Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass or Skyward Sword (though I own that one on Switch - just haven't played it).

That's every arcade beat em up. I enjoy the simplicity of it though.

A couple of months ago I went through HELL to fire up my PS3 and get it hooked up to the internet so I could buy both games from the PS3 store (since I don't have a PC I can play them on).
Haven't gotten around to actually playing them, but at least I was able to buy and download them on my old PS3

The first one is really really good imo its a very novel take on turn based combat where you have an amount of space you can move before you take your turns and then you can fire your gun at the target or use a spell eventually
The story is very neat as well.
The second one ups your power level a lot but it is more refined and focused on the powers aspect of eve over the guns even though she still has one

Playing through OoT again now and it’s still incredible. Yeah the world feels smaller after playing BOTW and TOTK but it’s still pretty damn big. The story is still great. I can’t wait for the remake

I loved Warsong as well. Is the og available somewhere, because I downloaded a Langrisser ob my phone (maybe 3) and it was a lot of in-app purchase nonsense

I grew up mostly playing all the great classics so they all pretty much universally hold up. Favs of the NES era were Legend of Zelda, Mike Tyson's Punchout, probably top 2.
The few that don't hold up were childhood games that I enjoyed at the time but were actually quite mid or occasionally bad but I didn't know it at the time because I was like 8 and almost all video games were fun, even the slightly bad ones. Back then knowledge was scant and libraries were random and there were just lots of "bad" games floating around people played and enjoyed.
Stuff like Karate Kid or California Games on NES. My best friend had those and we played them and genuinely loved them. In retrospect they were awful compared to the good NES games.

There is a Langrisser 1+2 available for purchase on Nintendo Switch that has improved graphics, music, and voice acting. Also has the option to play it as the original version.
ETA: I played through the original game, which was called Warsong in the USA, but haven't gotten around to playing the second game yet. I don't think the sequel was ever released in the USA before this compilation.

I fire up Zeus: Master of Olympus and other Sierra games every now and then. Still very enjoyable to play.
