What exactly do the residents end up doing?
I started out with some cat and a squirrel who keeps saying “cardio”.
Ran into a few others on islands, one being a pink crocodile.
Do they serve a purpose or do they just hangout?

So far they pretty much just talk to me and give me occasional DIY recipes. No sex but still early in the game I think.
The ones you run into on other islands you can invite over to your island if you like them.

That's what I did too...I didn't realize how many people you run into during the course of the game so I guess I am going to have to weed out some of these folks.

Yeah I am just barely ahead of you in the game. This is my first Animal Crossing. I am just messing around about the sex part.

Finally got my 3 stars and KK is coming today. The way I originally placed my house and the rivers were situated, I haven’t been able to build a bridge to 1/3 of my island. I hear terraforming is a pain in the arse, so hopefully I wont mess things up too bad.

I've done nothing but make custom clothes and fish and mess around with my house layout for the last week. I guess at some point I'll have to actually play the game.

I did this too. I'm regretting it now. I also have that pink alligator who's kind of annoying. My new guy t-bone seems like a dick but he looks cool.

Just checked turnip prices... 125 this AM.

Is there a way to choose which tile you place something on like a hedge or fence or flower? Or is just whatever tile you're standing on or facing? Because constantly picking up and putting back down things until they're where I want them is getting annoying.
For example, I'll be standing in an open area in front of a blank space and I'll go to plant a flower and it will pop up behind me or next to me.

For any kind of plant: dig a hole before you plant it - it will get planted in the hole
