I am in the DMV area and want to know of some good restaurants to try. Favor Italian, Seafood, and Mexican.

Three things we don’t get, outside of Old Ebbitt Grill

Blue Duck Tavern, Tosca for Italian, Rasika for Indian food, Zaytanya for Mediterranean food, The Old Ebbit Grill for good food in an old historic place with a great bar.

Jaleo. Beard finalist chef with an insane menu

Try Carmines Family Italian

Second Blue Duck Tavern and add Del Mar for seafood and tapas.

Check out the Ebbitt. Worked there long time ago. Great food and history. Cannelloni has been on the menu since I worked there some 30 plus years ago. It’s that good. Crab dip is awesome also. They put out a great product no matter what you order. You can’t go wrong. Check out Grants Bar. Oh the stories I could tell....

Love this place - I was a regular there when I was covering DC. Everyone I've ever sent has felt the same way.

Totally out of the way but do yourself a favor and go to Granville Moore’s on h street NE for mussels and frites if you like them.
We used to go to filomenas in Georgetown for Italian.
Old ebbits is touristy but we were locals for 3 years and still went often, quality food.
Founding farmers used to be good
Probably so much different since I last lived there in 2012.
For Mexican we went almost every Friday to lauriol plaza. Get there early, unless they take reservations now. But you can find good hole in the walls too

You can’t go wrong with any of the Jose Andres restaurants. Oyamel is Mexican but more traditional. Fish in the MGM was good for seafood, but I heard it closed.
Actually stayed at the Park Hyatt and tried Blue Duck for the first time this week. It was terrific. I highly recommend.
Rasika is top notch Indian food
Chiko for some casual Chinese-Korean fusion.
Taqueria Habanero is good for Mexican as well.
Outside of Old Ebbitt, the oyster bar in Union Market is the only seafood I remember enjoying in DC. Union Market is a pretty cool spot, though can be out of the way a bit.

Because of work I'm in DC semi-regularly (about every year). Usually my wife and I make a long weekend out of it.
We generally hit up both the happy hour and reverse happy hour at Old Ebbitt's daily and eat our weight in Kusshi oysters
