Decided to cook a shrimp stew tonight. I’ve never put rotel in my stew, but figured it couldn’t hurt. Thoughts?

Shrimp stew - No
Crawfish stew - Yes
It’s the way I learned from my dad growing up, not sure why though.

You do you. I would. It put it in a stew, it would consider it in an etouffee.

It can definitely hurt. But I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s tomatoes and chiles. If you want tomato flavor and Chile flavor…there you go.

I mean, every guy in Baton Rouge uses rotel, Worcestershire, and cream of mushroom in everything they cook in a pot anyway.

One thing I've learned over the years when it comes to cooking. Cook what you like, the way you like and to hell with any "food snobs" that say "I'd never use that in xxx".

They can cook it any way they like and I'd not look down on them for it. Might not agree with it, but would not do like some on here and condemn or criticize you for it.

It really depends on the flavor profile you want. If you're a big Rotel fan, then give it a shot.

You’re better off using fresh poblano, onion, and tomato. I love Rotel but mainly for chili and queso.
