There is a massive 3-story Olive Garden in Times Square. I've read that it is always packed, often with a 2-hour wait. New Years Eve ticket will set you back about $400. There's another down near Wall Street.

I have not dined there with the OG family, but I have visited the Times Square McDonald's for large Diet Cokes. Only $1.09 with tax, a true bargain in the area.

Pro tip: Keep your receipt. The code to the bathroom door is on it. Worth $1.09 all by itself.

The average American wants something that is familiar when it comes to food. It's why people eat at Joes Crab shack when vacationing at the beach rather than great local seafood options they aren't familiar with. It's the reason chains continue to flourish. Even though they put out subpar food it's consistent and safe for suburbanites.

And believe it or not as bad as the food sucks these chain restaurants are not heating up shite in a microwave like the mouth breathers on this site insist.

Not many Italians in Alexandria?
No real Italian would ever eat Olive Garden. That place is trash.

Ole Rod Noles said he didn’t think it was coming. Red lobster was here and closed (both owned by same entity). I feel like Olive Garden is redneck Italian. Verona’s is very good Italian

Thank god it's not your family but it seems like it's the majority of middle class families.

Foodies bashed an 85-year-old food critic for reviewing Olive Garden — and Anthony Bourdain came to her rescue
quote:

In 2012, Marilyn Hagerty was loudly mocked online for her review of the Olive Garden, which had recently opened in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Bourdain, who spent his life traveling the world in search of food and culture, was among the few professionals in the food industry who completely embraced Hagerty rather than crucifying her. "Very much enjoying watching Internet sensation Marilyn Hagerty triumph over the snarkologists (myself included)," Bourdain tweeted after Hagerty's review went viral.

But Bourdain didn't just defend her, somehow he became her biggest supporter and helped her nab a book deal with his own book line at Ecco Press. "She's been writing a food column in Grand Forks for 30 years. As we saw a little bit of her during her blow up on the internet and how she handled herself, what we have is a sincere, genuine reportage of food that people don't really see or talk about," Bourdain told reporters during a conference call in April 2012. "I see her life's work as a history of American dining. What's happened to them? Are they still around after 25 years?"

When Hagerty published her book, "Grand Forks: A History of American Dining in 128 Reviews," Bourdain wrote the foreword and continued to laud her work as "a fascinating picture of dining in America, a gradual, cumulative overview of how we got from there ... to here."

Usually, any restaurant that opens in Alexandria is only good for about a month or two. The staff that are initially brought in are there to train the locals on how to run the business. Once the locals take over, it all goes to shite. Walk-On's is already going downhill.

It’s human nature to gravitate towards what you’ve seen advertised as appealing, right?

The average American just isn't adventurous with food and want to eat what they are familiar with /have seen on tv.

That's just so sad. But we all know this is the truth.

The thing is people that eat almost exclusively at chains aren't all trash like this what is trashy obcessed site implies. The majority of the middle class eats mainly at chains when eating out.

this x 1000. That was my worry from the get go with walk-ons. I will say Texas Roadhouse has the best service in this area. The food is consistently good and service is on point most of the time

It depends on the area and the chain. Suburbs have nicer clientele in any given chain. The city will have trashier people as chili’s and stuff, but nicer people at the “trendier” places like chipotle. I’m in a nicer area in a big city, and the closest chains to me feel like ghettos the few times we go.

Probably true in smaller towns and suburbs, but definitely not where I live. No one but trash goes to those national chains.

Where do you live? How do you define "trash?"

Boston, and to quote Justice Stewart, “I know it when I see it.”

It's funny that you can judge a person s character so quickly to classify them as trash but it's tigerdroppings. Carry on.
