They can blame it on inflation all they want, but high prices is what keeps us from eating out.
I don’t understand this sentence. Inflation caused the excessively high prices, did it not? So they are one in the same.

The people at Pocarello's could be a bit snappy too, but I wish they were still open.
I still see Pokie from time to time. I still miss their food. Constantly good.
The Shed, one trip was all I needed. How did it stay open that long?

I’ve seen Solou’s advertising a new menu. Not a good sign for their outlook either

I can't get a feel for SoLou. The space is nice, I've never had bad food, service has been hit or miss.. yet I never suggest it nor does any of my circle.
I saw they opened one in Lafayette and lots of people there have been hyped about it on social media, but that was the same deal when it first opened here as well.

I’ve had a good meal there every time and liked the atmosphere and service has been good. It’s usually been busy too

I’ve been three or four times, and the service has never been a hit. It’s fricking weird. They aren’t “bad” and tend to be nice, but I would have sworn it was their very first server gig. Just fumbling through the most basic of interactions. If I found out they solely hired “second chance” type employees, it would make absolute sense to me.

I was not born nor raised in BR or anywhere in Louisiana. I lived in BR for many years before finally going to FDL and I only went because some friends insisted. It was absolutely horrible. Not that the pizza was inedible but the service was nonexistent. We got yelled at. Sodas were bottled that didn’t come with free refills which is absolutely a problem when you wait so long for your food. You could only pay with cash which is really really strange in the 21st century. It just didn’t add up. I think people hate to accept it but that place went to shite and didn’t change with the times. They slowly lost their customer base and it was over.

WTH?
Never had a problem with Pokie and the family. Didn't care about the cash or cut a check.

Gov’t Taco fell off a clif.
I moved to Capital Heights in late 2021 and thought Gov’t Taco was amazing.
By the time it closed the portions were smaller
The quality was terrible.
You were getting a bite of protein and sometimes it was so greasy it was inedible.
last time I went it was so fricking bad and the prices went up.

I really wonder where all these downvotes are coming from. Probably from the owners of the FDL property trying to sell their land and "business" for over $4mm

Exact same experiences I've had, along with their sister restaurant Juban's. We've had servers who were on beverage service only have to take the bottle of wine to the back for help because they don't know how to open it.
Last time we went, the water pitcher leaked each time they'd pour from it, but the server still went around the table and poured all of our drinks from it. We were all covered in water.

What about Mama Della's? Also, Pat's Cajun Seafood?

I remember getting heavily downvoted when I laughed at their proposed valuation, saying that the land obviously had value, but that the business itself was worth frick-all

That just reminded me that the last time I went to Jubans, someone at the table had brought a bottle with a wax seal. That poor server...
