I wait at Surreys all the time but we have friends that live around the corner. Most of the time we just don't feel like driving anywhere. If you walk over there knowing that you're going to wait it just isn't that big of a deal to us. Just grab drinks at Le Bon Temps, socialize with friends, and wait for them to call your name. Have our heads examined because of this? No thanks.

8 of us went last night for crawfish, because i didnt have time to boil. We went early... Aroun 5pm and there was no wait. When we left at 630, there must have been 50-60 people waiting. Craziness.

I would wait 15 minutes for the taco sampler from the rum house... but Id probably judt drive to buffas.

As for sammys, Im not a huge fan, Ive eaten there with the MIL side, but only twice in ten years on my own.

What really boggles my mind...is chilis wednesday through saturday. WhoTF is eating there?

We used to drink at the one in lafayette when it was dollar draft, but that was more about building pyramids with mugs.

I live in Central and have eaten at Sammy's once. It wasn't bad, but wasn't special. I can be at Town Center and eat at one of the chains in 20 minutes, all of which are vastly superior to Sammy's. Coyote Blues adds another 7 to 10 minutes. Chimes at LSU takes me about 25 minutes. I always arrive at 5pm to get a good table and to have a drink before ordering.

Omg totally agree. Rum house and surveys are good but not worth waiting for. Rum House has atmosphere and plethora of college chicks who go there that make it appealing.

Could think of worse reasons to patronize an establishment

Trust me it's not a bad thing but to eat its hard to wait a long time with so many other options.

Yeah, I don't make my dining choices based off of "getting" to look at attractive co-eds. La Casita's tacos, guacamole and margaritas blow Rum House out of the water. Atmosphere and service are pretty fricking solid too.

I agree but I'd still eat at Rum House if it wasn't so damn packed. Most of the time you can't even walk down the sidewalk there. Good thing RDV is on the Lake side.

It's the ones not at Le Bon Temps who need their head examined. Damn fine Bloody Mary.

Slim Goodys is a different story.

Is this the breakfast place?
I've only been once. It was 430 or 5 am. After a night of uptown partying and losing a ton of money at Harrah's. I was the only person in the place for a bit.
It was meh.
I have seen the line for that place though. It's insane. Not worth it.

Yeah I run by there pretty often and I can't remember the last time there weren't people standing outside waiting, rain or shine. Like a damn Outback. I don't think it's bad food or anything, just you can find better at nearby places and not have to wait an hour to be seated.

It's a diner. Food is on par with Dot's or Blue Plate (RIP). I don't get the lines either. It's serviceable for a quick breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast before work .. but I'm not making a huge effort to eat there.

It's a glorified Waffle House.

they do a good job with their crawfish, but again nothing worth that wait. I can go down the street to LA Boilers or even make the drive to Tony's and get crawfish more quickly that are just as good
