Had this concoction last night on the recommendation of a friend after I bashed his favorite New England soft drink..I must admit, it wasn't bad

Ended up finding a couple bottles.

Anyone try the Fox & Oden?

Wick, getting any of the JD BS ryes? Glad to see they're rolling out and it's sooner than I expected. I don't think there's much doubt that JD is "winning" the year so far between this and the 10/12 releases.

This has become my go to for special occasions. It somehow justifies its retail price.

I’m only two years in on collecting and drinking bourbon so I have a long ways to go before I spend that on a bottle

I should say drinking good bourbon because up until 2 years ago I just drank Texas Bourbon or JD.

That's surprising. Did you like the special release rye a few years ago? I assumed it'd be very similar. The good news is you shouldn't have any problems selling it.

Speaking of ryes, this is one of my favorites. WU 2er

How was it?

It fits into the typical pattern for a neck pour of a really high proof. I thought it was a little hot and that kind of obscured some of the secondary notes. However, even if it doesn't open up (highly unlikely), I'd buy again without hesitation at retail.

I recently had the special release and it was more complex, but it's unfair to compare at this point. I'm going to do a blind head to head after a few more pours. I didn't expect it to reach the same level as the special release, but anything in that general vicinity is a big win for JD.

On a related note, I wonder what they're adding to it to prevent it from being a straight rye? It's a bit odd considering their other ryes are straight.
