They slowly remove age statements like eagle rare...10y on the neck out in front...then that’s moved to 10y on the back label...then that’s removed. Or was that Elijah crag...or both.
It's still there on Eagle Rare, they did remove the single barrel statement though. But most bottles are still technically a single barrel from my understanding.

Ok then it was EC that removed the 12y I guess. Either way it’s fukery to stretch product and be able to get younger juice out sooner under the same label. I’m a cynic though so maybe my outlook is not fair LOL.

quote:100% agree. I just wonder if they will "catch up" and eventually be able to produce 12 year again. It's such a weird product though, how can you predict demand 6, 8, 10, 12+ years in the future, so I kinda understand to a point. And there is still "old" juice out there if you look for it. I believe the EC barrel proofs are all 12 years, which takes away from the 12 year old barrels that they could use for their "normal" line.

Yea they used to just put it in the glass case with no limit
Those bottles never made it to the case at the Costco in BR.
I remember Unc getting that Pappy 20 from Sam's. What I remember more is some random guy posting it on here and the fact that he actually left Sam's without buying it.

I still have a few 1.75L Elijah Craig 12 year front age stated (Cliffords). This is so much better than the Elijah Craig that they are putting out today.
This is some GOOD juice.

IMO....no. See cynic money feelings. They will make some new bottles with cool labels that are Limited Edition with that 12yr for a higher price before they bring back 29.99 EC12.

I thought it was someone bought one and left one and thats why he called. Either way he didn't do the proper shelf clearing method

They did here one 1 or 2 occasions. Not anymore...too many people called and asked when will they get it next time. No idea if they got it again this year or if it just went to the managers lol.

Lap10
So, my wife was roasting Brussel sprouts in the kitchen. Oven door open occasionally to move sprouts around. Kitchen smells kinda funky. I go to the bar off the next room and open my Lap10 for the first time and pour in a glass. Almost immediately, my wife hollers my name and calls me in the kitchen. She says, Do you smell something burning. I said I smelled roasting sprouts. I was about 10 feet away from her at the time. I take a sip and she says, The smell is getting worse. Putting 2 and 2 together, I asked her to smell my drink to see if that was the source of the oder. Yep, she looks me in the eye and says, That's offensive. How can you drink that?
So, I can no longer drink Lap10 inside. That's okay, I like the patio just fine. ??

I see it more that they are trying to keep up with demand. With a finite supply each year, they need to maximize this or else be out of the market. The only way to do this is to proof down barrels or lower age statements.
It does suck, but it's the nature of the bourbon boom unfortunately. Here's hoping that rum takes over soon. Trends never last, and they are especially short lived with today's limited attention spanned culture.
Been waiting for the bourbon boom to bust for 6 years now. It has honestly gotten worse. I do agree it will eventually bust.
It will be interesting what the next few years will look like. Distilleries have been expanding to keep up with demand and due to the nature of the product we won't see the result of this for another few years. If the demand busts before then there could be a ton of supply. It's exciting to think about. But I suppose the boom could easily continue or even worsen.

Are you in Georgia? I might give you this bottle. Lol

When I toured Buffalo Trace a couple months ago they showed us the expansion and the tour guide said the only reason they were able afford it at such a large sale was because of the popularity of fireball. That shocked me, but according to her fireball was incredibly profitable for BT when compared to the rare stuff that takes forever to age.

quote:for now...they moved that 12 to the side in small letters so it wouldn't be very noticeable if/when they remove the 12.

Not sure why that would be surprising. Cheap, easy to produce stuff that college kids guzzle down is likely always gong to be the top seller and have ridiculous margins.

Haha. Honestly, everyone taste something different. Someone likes it, theyre selling it for $45 and the reviews/scores are pretty good. It's interesting. I'll keep it on hand for the next person that says that all brown liquor taste the same
If Andrew Zimmern drank liquor, it'd be this

1PD. Donny’s pick I found last summer. Funny story, I found this bottle at the tiny little Rouses that used to be a Franks just before Grand Isle while heading to the island one weekend. Was pleasantly surprised.
