I’ve been getting ads for “proof” premade mixers so I went looking at total wine today, but they don’t carry it.

I was getting those ads too. I took the bait and ordered one. It came in earlier this week but I haven’t tried it yet. I also picked up another brand at Martin’s called The Cocktail Experiment that is made by Olive or Twist in BR. Haven’t tried that one yet either. Will report back when I try them.

Did the 750s have that too? I thought it was only the 1L bottles that had that. That’s the only ones I had with the raised wheat.

The 750’s were Bernheim juice made between when Stitzel Weller shut down in 1992 until Buffalo Trace bottled their own around 1999. The 1L bottles hung around longer because they used the excess raised wheat bottles well past the point of when Buffalo Trace started bottling their juice.

It is a fantastic bottle. The olroso barreling can sometimes be a one trick pony (which I often still enjoy). However, the high proof adds such balance and complexity.

I have had plenty excellent bernheim distillate. those raised label w12s were superb.

It's a consistent problem for me...I drank all that I bought.

Props to busbeepbeep. He turned me onto that great bottle of scotch. It's the best bottle of scotch I have had in quite a bit.

TA / Bus, are y’all talking about the Kilkerran or the Springbank 10yr or another yr? If y’all are giving that high of remarks then I’m going look for a bottle.

We were talking about the Kilkerran 8yr Cask Strength 57.1%. If you find this, there is no indication that is the Oloroso aged version on the tube or bottle besides seeing the 57.1% proof and obviously the color of the booze.

Tonight, I'm getting together with two friends in Houston and we'll be cracking open the Blue Spot, Springbank 12 CS Batch 21, Springback 17 Madeira, and Springbank 21 and who knows what else.

I'll surely have pics and feedback later.

EC is another great one for the price! That and ER are 2 that stay in the cabinet. EC is readily available unlike ER.

I just bought a bottle of green spot. I drank a lot of that and Red breast when I went to Ireland but it’s harder to find here. It is Delicious.

Gotcha. Is it hard to find and what’s the avg. price point to expect? Based on y’all’s feedback I’m very interested. I love cask strengths in all my pours so that makes this one even more interesting to me. My go to is Martin’s so I’ll hit there first. Thanks.

$80-85 in my experience. Well 15,000 bottles were made in this batch in 2019, and some finally reached Houston in November 2020 and when that was gone I figured it was all gone, but then a few more seem to have appeared around Houston this week and around Louisiana. Good luck hunting. Hope you guys can find one.

Info about the different Kilkerran 8 CS batches
