I tasted the Martin’s pick and the RR pick (Godzilla) today in a side by side. I give the slight nod to RR but both are totally solid. Was going to get a LBC bottle but with shipping it was going to be $85 so I backed out. Apparently it’s a good pour.

Kilkerran 8 yr cask strength showdown
2019 release, 57.1%, re-charred oloroso casks
2021 release, 56.9%, fresh oloroso casks
The older bottle has been open for several months. The new one was opened yesterday. Initial reaction is that I like them both, which I guess makes me the winner of the showdown. I prefer the 57.1% slightly, as the new one presents a little more sulfur in both the nose and palate.

Gonna monitor local shops so I can get a new bottle and compare it to the 2019 that Midget has. We can do a side by side at our next northshore tasting, if I can find one.
