2PD, didn’t grab a pic of the bottle because I didn’t feel like adjusting the lighting in my bar but this is the 14 year 9 month MGP rye that was finished in a port barrel. That barrel must’ve been wet AF because this tastes like grape juice

FPD was a Russell’s SiB out of Camp Nelson.

Had an interesting conversation with a guy over the weekend who lives in Utah (non Mormon) who enjoys quality beverages. Only place to buy alcohol in Utah is at state run stores. He told me that the state limits the mark up to 20% so higher end products are reasonably priced.

For the RHDP, Rare High Demand Products, they have a lotto. Products made available through a drawing will generally be those released in limited quantities and include bourbons, tequilas, scotch, wines or beers. Most commonly, RHDP products include Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon, Sazerac Antique Collections, DRC wines, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon and Yamazaki 18yr Japanese Whiskey.

Here is a screen shot of past winners and the price paid and how many entered.

Costco has both the rye and straight distiller's select for $99/ea up here. Double-double oaked is $169

Not crazy about the two distillers select but that double-double oaked just dances on my tongue and makes me want to single sound of music.

That Woodford Rye is very good. I saw most reviews said over priced. If it was a 750ML bottle the price would be just fine. It is your typical Brown Forman Rye. Has some good sweet notes and if you don’t like dill or minty ryes this one is in your wheelhouse. As far as the DoubleDouble Oak I just couldn’t see paying that price for 94 proof juice. If you enjoy it that’s all that matters.

The odds of many of us having tasted that store pick are slim, but I have 2 barrels of Old Dominick being shipped to me, a 7 year wheated bourbon at 118 proof and a 129 proof 8 year tennessee whiskey. Both were great and I ended up picking up both.

How’s that Kings Family wheated? I went by there last summer and got a bottle of the Honey Toasted Ryeconic that’s really good. Wish I could’ve bought 2

It’s alright. Initial hit is pleasant and makes you think it’s about to take you on a ride, decent “funky” mid palate, but the finish is almost non existent. Had to hold onto a little of the sip and play with it to act like something was going on. I’ll drink it, don’t get me wrong, but not my favorite. Young juice.

I had a bottle of their wheated BiB and it was pretty good. I’m not usually big on wheaters because they often have a grainy note that I’m not a fan of, but theirs did not have that note.

Anyone try both Knob Creek 18y and 21y? Picking one of the two up tomorrow morning to taste with the guys. Don't really want to pay for both at once.
