Good day today. We were at Buffalo Trace early and went to the gift shop. They had Eagle Rare 10, Weller special reserve, Buffalo trace, Sazerac Rye, and Wheatley vodka. I got a couple bottles of Weller and a bottle of ER.
We then went to Wild Turkey. Jimmy Russel was there and signed a bottle of Kentucky Spirit for me. It’s been a cool experience.
I was there last week and picked up 2 wellers, 2 Eagle Rares, and 2 Blantons. I met Freddie and he signed my root beer bottle that I was drinking
Went to Wild Turkey. Love the product but not impressed with the facility. Missed out on Jimmy Russell. Was really hoping to meet him and have him sign my Rare Breed bottle

I didn’t see Freddie but had his root beer and ginger ale, both are very good.
I was also not impressed with the WT visitor center. It was small and looks unfinished on the inside . I ended up with a Kentucky spirit, 2 weller, an Eagle Rare, a Rebel small batch, Makera Mark 101, and a peerless double oak. I may get an Evan Williams bottle tomorrow before we leave Sunday.

Picked these up yesterday and Wild Turkey 101 for mixes.
The first time ive had either. Im pretty new to hunting good stuff and collecting.
The 4R is terrific. The Frey Ranch is incredible.

Had a couple Buffalo Trace high balls while cooking a gumbo.
FPD is a fresh crack. Last one left at my Spec’s today. Excellent.

EC Toasted Rye
I've gotten really into Toasted selections recently. Currently have EC toasted Bourbon, Starlight toasted, and a Nulu toasted rye. Any others the board would recommend?

It's good and a step above my double oaked (92% Willett). The classic cinnamon note is there with some maple and ample spice.
However, I think this one is better. Cinnamon, more fruit, and barrel char. Better mouthfeel and finish in comparison (although indirect) to the DO. I'd be happy to have both in the cabinet.
I'd like to do a little blind with these and the Wheated since they're so close in proof.

I think that one may be Wheated, but they didn’t give the mashbill.
ETA: definitely get some sweetness off of the double oaked, I attributed it to honey, but could see maple. Honestly I don’t think the double oak did it any favors as it kinda muted some of that strong cinnamon that I really enjoy on the Willett profile. Really wish they were higher proof, I wonder if the DO was also aged at Castle and Key, because that’s where the Premier Drams was aged and apparently their aging facility tends to lend more towards lower proofs (lower water evaporation).
ETA2: I’m hitting up Jack Rose DC again next week, can’t wait to see what they have on hand

Re: double oaked, didn't they lower the proof on entry before the second barreling this time? I saw something about that mentioned in reviews comparing the newer batches to the originals. The location could certainly be a factor too. I think mine is in the 120s, but the ones I'm seeing now are close to 110.
Re: premier drams, at first I thought it might be wheated too, but was leaning original by the end of the pour. Based on memory, the wheated I have doesn't have the same level of cinnamon, is a bit softer, and has a little more fruit on the nose. I think comparing it directly to the wheated will help in figuring that out. Whatever it is, I like it!
Jealous of the Jack Rose trip for sure.
