Apparently, the sazerac pick has arrived today as well. Very strange as I picked them 3 months apart.

I've enjoyed all of the private barrels I've tried from them.

From my experience, the private barrels and LE's from Maker's do really well in blinds.

Evening baws, FPD is a fresh crack 8yr Willett SiB finished for 1 year in a level 1 char barrel.

It’s definitely not as dark as most of the Willett SiB’s that I’ve had, but it is only 111 proof. Still get that typically Willett cinnamon, but there’s a layer of honey there that I’m assuming is coming from the level 1 char barrel. Overall definitely not disappointed in spending $150 on it.

Good evening gentlemen. I was able to get the discovery earlier this week and decided to go with a Bardstown blind.

Glad it was a justified buy Epic. I'd imagine it's better than the Hirsch DO that I have. It is 92% willett and the other 8% is some young stuff. It's definitely not on the cognac level, but it's still something I don't regret buying.

The Bardstown blind results were: discovery, fercullen, 4 square, and origin. I really like that cinnamon note in the discovery, and it's got more prominent oak as well. The fercullen vs 4 square comes down (somewhat predictably) to the difference between Irish and rum. Similar overall quality, but completely different notes. Tropical fruit vs. honey and cereal.

The origin is great for the price, but was clearly behind the other three in complexity.

Fpd was an early 90s old Taylor
Pretty tasty for only being 80 proof

Spd was eht BP batch 12. This is the second time I've tried this bottle and both times I was blown away by how a 131 proofer drinks like 110. Crazy contrast to the much rougher stagg jrs I've tried.

For those of y'all that have tried GTS how does it compare to that eht BP? My buddy won one in the total wine lottery and can't decide whether to open or flip

This is impressive being I think the 4 square and origin BiB are both outstanding. I will have to seek out the other two.

The fercullen is easily the oldest of the four. I didn't know it existed until I ran across a post online. I think it was distillery only, but not positive. I ended up getting it for 160, but retail is listed at 200. I'm posting the mashbill below. It's a wild blend, but works really well.

On a related note, Internet wines has the 4 square release on sale for 120. I got the Px sherry redbreast from them a while back for 100 and didn't have any issues.

Interesting mashbill:

36% 17 year Dickel
24% 12 year Wild Turkey
20% 12 year Heaven Hill
20% 21 year Fercullen

FPD for me today is the same as yesterday, wanted to revisit it because I was a bit rushed last night due to dinner for my pour last night

The Discovery 11 is fantastic, the majority of the blend (70%+) is 13 year Wild Turkey. There is some 10 year “mystery mashbill” (still up in the air who it belongs to, it’s 20% of the blend), and the remaining 6% is Bardstown’s Wheated mashbill that they use in the Origin BiB.

Good evening epic. How's the follow up pour?

Given the performance in the blind, I wanted to go with something similar in proof and age to the disco 11. I really enjoy this one and have kept it buried in the back of the cabinet.
