I almost bought the AE rye today but didn't. I may go back tomorrow and pick it up. Not sure if I want to pull the trigger at $90 though.

I was really surprised how smooth it was for 100 proof. It was $70 at the place I bought it. Regular Angel's Envy was $50. I am going to go back tomorrow and pick up another bottle.

That Cramer method is interesting. Will re-investigate later when the palate is not so corrupted.

those butts look great. i usually rub with vegetable oil before applying the rub. does the mustard give the rub/ cooked bark a different taste?

Gentlemen, I've been lurking this thread for a very long time. This thread is what got me to finally create a username to join the discussion. I have learned quite a bit from reading your thoughts on good bourbons.

Does anyone else use the Carmer method when tasting?

I read about this last night. I was a bit past the point of really being able to try it last night, and I'm curious to hear how it has worked for others as well.

No idea...I dont think the mustard gives it any flavor...just something thick to get more rub on it. Could be wrong...may try olive oil one day side by side.

Been lurking this thread for a long time myself. I've finally gotten to the point in my advanced age where I'm starting to really appreciate the finer spirits, especially Bourbon. I've decided to start stocking up on different bourbons and thanks to this thread, I have a few ideas on what to start with.
