My go-to so far is the Willet. I'm going to look for some EHT Rye this weekend and maybe grab the Rit 100 since I've heard goo things.
It sounds like the EHT might be good for you according to NOLA's description. Sounds like a good one to crossover from bourbon.

This or the Jefferson's Chef Collaboration are probably the better "gateway" ryes. It definitely takes some getting used to for the ryes, but after you've had enough, you start to pick up the complexity of them and can start to appreciate them. They usually aren't as sweet or smooth as many bourbons, but that's usually the point. They're spicier and different and go better with spicy foods.
After last night, I will say that once you've started with ryes for a night, stick with them b/c everything else pales to your taste buds. I had a glass of some Bushmill 10 year single malt after the ryes and it literally felt like I was drinking flavored water.

Along the same line as Chefs Collaboration, I enjoyed Son of Bourye from High West.
I'm trying to venture more into ryes myself. I've had the Willet 4 year rye and hated it. I'm really liking my EH Taylor Rye though. I guess I'm just developing the taste for ryes.

Not usually a big beam fan but giving this a shot since rouses usually does a good job at picking barrels. Sourmash manifesto rated it at a 9 so I have faith

I can make a bunch of Poor Man's Pappy with these two handles

I'm going to the downtown Specs to buy a few W12 and OWA, considering all this talk of it disappearing.

I think the other is just an older label. I see it on BX often

Question about making these blends. What sort of seal do you need after combining them?
Posted on 1/23/14 at 6:46 pm to GRTiger
Just a screw cap weller bottle or cork top works for me.

I like it with some ice. It changes a little bit as the ice melts from tasty gasoline to more tasty watered down gasoline.
