Costco in bham has a liquor section on the side. The prices are basically the same as the ABC store and the selection is limited but sometimes you run into stuff like this.

Wow, I did not know that. I thought there was some kind of state law against it. I guess they still have to go through the state to buy so they cannot pass on any savings to the consumer. It is strange in Alabama that you can buy from the ABC store at the same prices as regular dealers if you buy cases at a time. Still higher than surrounding states.

Don't let anyone talk you out of it. That thing is cool as hell.

I've always wanted an OGD swing set for my bar.

Hoping it was a gimmick, but I did snag a few. Does not make a good Manhattan, but is great neat.

I hope so too but I doubt it. That stuff sold like hot cakes. They'll get more but it'll either not be as good or will be doubled in price.

I had to weasel my way into two 7 yr rye bottles last night. I honestly never thought I'd need to bunker the 7 yr OS SA rye but here we are.

It's pretty amazing how antiquated the liquor laws are in Alabama. Hell, we couldn't even have breweries or 22oz bottles until 2011. Shelby County just passed a law last month to allow alcohol sales on Sunday.

What's really surprising is that a state so focused on states rights and individualism has allowed a government run monopoly on liquor stores to exist without much resistance at all.

Speaking of Costco. The one in BR just ramped up the price of all whiskey by 2-3 dollars.
